"Ambassador, it is abundantly clear to me that you are unwaveringly loyal to your government... perhaps more so your country. That is something I cannot fault you for and admire possibly more than you will ever realise. You are a true patriot and I hope your government recognises your faithful commitment.

However, it is very clear to me that no matter what is said in this room, there is going to no sway from the official stance. Whether that's because of the possible legal repercussions or even the reputational fallout, who knows, but either way it is not something I seek to burden any longer. But let me be clear on the actions we have taken in order to ensure our national security: we have stripped Roketsan, Aselsan AS and Turkish Aerospace Industries of its intellectual assets and they are now held by a Swedish holdings firm. The existence of these former defence companies is now purely in namesake.

I agree that we need open dialogue to ensure this doesn't happen in the future and perhaps better use of diplomatic missions as communications hubs would aid that process."

Ambassador Yunt gave a simple nod. "Secretary Sandberg, from our prespective your government lacks any such authority to make that decision as a minority shareholder in our three defense industries, and even if it did, the decision was procedurally and substantively deficient. We will, of course, be sure to avail ourselves of the necessary legal powers to hold you accountable for what we can only describe as unlawful action. So to speak, your measures of transferring intellectual property, which you have no ownership was purely for namesake."

"Still, I believe my Government will echo your sentiment that we need better and more open dialogue and would like to welcome Sweden to reopen its diplomatic mission in Ankara. As well as the opportunity to stress we believe that our relationship

"I think we're just going to end up going around in circles, honestly." the Secretary leans back in his leather chair, gesturing to the Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Treaties and Legal Affairs, he utters "Viktor?"

Vikor leans forward, flicking a few pages through his binder seat on the table infront of him "I don't think there's really any dispute that we have been the majority and principle shareholder of all of those companies: Roketsan, Aselsan AS and Turkish Aerospace Industries for many, many years. There is absolutely no scope whatsoever for any form of legal argument to our share in those organisations, particularly when we're not only the majority but also the only shareholder. We have made efforts to secure our investments by moving intellectual property elsewhere and, if needs be, we will look at dissolving those organisations entirely. But, needless to say, that would have a phenomenal impact on your economic standing."

Secretary Sandberg leans forward "Honestly Ambassador, given that it is still unbearably clear that the Turkish government has found some aspect of hostility with Sweden, how can we be sure that reopening our diplomatic mission in Ankara is a sensible... a safe... decision to make? Can you assure me of the safety of Swedish nations sent to work and live there?"

"As do I," the Ambassador said in reference to the going in circle point. "I leave the legal issues to our lawyers, but what I can address is your last point, Secretary Sadberg. "I believe this hostility is one-sided, and it is your own. My Government does not bear any ill will nor express such feelings to you in action or in word. I do not believe it would be appropriate to say then that we have displayed a 'newfound' hostility to Sweden.

He said, before leaning back a little. "If you are serious about better and more open dialogue, then an Embassy is not just sensible, but it is necessary. If safety is a concern, which is fair with how things have been run by two extremist regimes, I can assure you that this government is one with a sense of legal responsibility to the international rules-based order. But, do not take my word alone for it, when Thailand, which continues to undermine our national-security, sent thousands of saboteurs and worked with communists to overthrow our government, we followed the Global Assembly's protocols and expelled their diplomatic officers and acted in accordance with international law. That same law protects your accredited diplomats, visiting nationals, and should be a reminder of the importance we all adhere to the rules-based order.
