Department of Defence

OFFICIAL OPERATION ORDER
APRIL 2006
TOP SECRET

Situation Report
Antarctica is one of Sweden's most contested territories gives its international scientific interest, position of strategic significance and tense political history. This year (2006) will mark the tenth anniversary of Operation Molybdenum in-which a Swedish Royal Navy warship, HSwMS Sno, was sunk by hostile Argentine forces seeing to the loss of one hundred and twenty service personnel. This operation will reassert the continued Swedish presence in and around the continent, alongside surrounding sub-Antarctic overseas territories. The Swedish Armed Forces have an extensive presence across overseas territories at present and this operation will form part of an ongoing review into the best, most efficient way to secure interests regionally. This tour is the second of the series within Operation Vaesite.
