[Sweden]: Telephone Call to Syria

Encrypted Telephonic Communication Monitored and Recorded by the Swedish Security Service Amira Hedlund, Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Diplomacy, makes a telephone call from her office to the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

[Flying Damascas]

Syria's foreign minister, Yussef Al-Yassir would open up an encrypted line of communication promptly picking up the telephone in his office.

"Hello, This is Foreign Minister Al-Yassir how might I be of service to you, Mrs Hedlund?"

"Good evening, I am calling from the Swedish Department of Foreign Affairs, I am Under Secretary Hedlund... I thought now was better time than ever to establish some form of rapport between our nations, how do you feel about that?"

 

[Flying Damascas]

"I see, its mid morning over here in Syria but overall its a pleasure to speak with you Mrs. Hedlund. I would like very much for my country to engage in a productive set of discussions of a most beneficial manner. "

"Ah yes timezones are a marvel aren't they... Honestly Minister I am eager to hear about your governments plans within Europe? Is it somewhere you intend to develop active trade and diplomatic relations?"

 

[Flying Damascas]

"Indeed, Time in its various forms is quite the marvel of humanity on this planet. On the topic of my government's intent as far as Europe is concerned, Syria would prefer to avoid any association or constraints opting instead to champion it's national sovereignty by reducing its dependence on foreign trade and by restructuring the economy in a manner best suited to the needs of the Syrian people. However in certain cases such as Sweden's we are prepared to make an exception as unlike a fair chunk of Europe, Sweden has never engaged in imperialism in the middle east nor has it done anything to put the breaks on the destiny of the Arab people to become one."

"Well independence is something we definitely support however I would say that Syria needs to be careful not to distance itself too much from the European community, especially considering it is a stronghold for some of the most powerful nations on the globe. But nonetheless, Sweden is dramatically proud of its history and we're definitely prepared to cooperate with Syria in order to do our very best supporting your economy. Sweden is the wealthiest nation on the globe today, neck-and-neck with Madagascar. If trade is what you seek, you've certainly come to the right place!"
