-- High Security Clearance --

Prime Minister Shinawatra,

I greatly appreciate your sentiments. It has been a hard and prolonged effort to reclaim the throne my family line was robbed of in 1914 when the British deposed my great-grandfather, but I finally sit on it. I intend to lead Egypt into a golden era unseen in millennia.

While my body will be in another country shortly for a meeting of neighbors, I will happily assign my Chief of International Affairs to a delegation and dispatch them to Bangkok promptly, if you will have them. He is my most trusted diplomat, and I believe he will be useful in exploring our modern relationship.

Egypt is looking for aid in gathering its foothold in the modern world, and we would like to see Thailand as one of those aids. We are willing to put a significant amount of capital into developing our international capabilities and relationships with those who can further our mutual interests.

I hope this arrangement works for you.

Best,
Sultan Moneim II

Sultanate of Egypt and the Sudan

Your Majesty Sultan,

I thank you for your swift and heartfelt correspondence. Thailand shares its sympathy for Egypt and your royal family. We understand the unique position of the Egyptian in the past century, and I want to reassure you that while our governance is vastly different, we greatly respect your nation self-determination to self-govern.

I accept your proposal for the arrangement, and I believe Thailand, with our commitment to world peace, stability, security, and prosperity, would be in position to aid your nation. I deeply appreciated your early commitment to our fruitful and cooperative relationships by dispatching your Chief of International Affairs, who is the most trusted diplomat. While our security measure can be no match in the world, I would like to request that the Egyptian delegate to bring its guard, in which we will provide additional training and foster constructive relationship.

Again, I thank you for your interest and correspondence in Thai-Egyptian relationship. The Thai Government and I will be waiting at the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Best Regard,

Thaksin Shinawatra
Prime Minister

The chartered flight would arrive at the Suvarnabhumi Airport after just a few hours in the air. After it had taxied to its destination on the tarmac, Moustafa Asker, two aids, and six guards would file out into the humid, tropical air. Moustafa himself led the group, an imposing man standing 6'4 and dressed in a clean black suit with red accents. His skin was bronzed, his hair cut short, and his wide build visible through the suit. While he held nothing, his two aids carried slim computer bags, and the guards were equipped with two M-16s and four Scorpion SMGs.

Moustafa's eyes swept the tarmac, scanning for whoever he was supposed to meet.

Bangkok, 2003
Thailand

Welcome to Thailand—The Land of Smiles, where the modesty of its inhabitants radiates a global awareness of its opulent cultural tapestry and indigenous way of life. As one descends toward Bangkok through the boundless, liberating sky, even an Egyptian's eyes would be captured by an expansive panorama: a vibrant metropolis where the architecture of the modern age marries age-old traditions in an intricate dance.

Though each individual life is but a transient episode in the labyrinth of existence, the city itself stands as a living testament to activity, diversity, sustainability, and prosperity—each facet harmoniously woven into the greater mosaic. Suvarnabhumi Airport, a ceaseless hub, welcomes a kaleidoscope of souls from every corner of the globe daily. However, today is destined to be exceptional.

Beheld the eminent delegation from Egypt, led by the Chief of International Affairs, Moustafa Asker. The tarmac hummed with the disciplined energy of 800 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division. Accompanying them, the Division's marching band lent a palpable gravitas, while Thai and Egyptian flags ripple side by side, adorning the space like dual guardians.

As the Egyptian delegation emerged, their national anthem swelled in a melodic embrace. On cue, the KAI FA-50 fighters from the 501st Light Attack Squadron pierced the sky, etching the flags of both nations onto the sprawling canvas of cerulean above. Lining the crimson carpet, Thai officials and military officers stood like sentinels, defining the predestined path of diplomatic engagement.

Then, from the expanse of that long, red carpet, a figure began to advance, flanked by men in black suits whose stature matches that of the Egyptian entourage. With each step he took, the atmosphere grew electric, dense with unspoken authority. It was as if this man commanded not just his nation but wielded an influence that rippled across the global stage. This was Thaksin Shinawatra, the 2nd Prime Minister of the Republic of Thailand.

With a courteous Wai, even the seasoned guards of the Egyptian entourage felt a subtle tension tighten the air around them. These highly trained individuals instinctively grasped that the heads of their delegation were now under the watchful gaze of elite snipers from the National Intelligence Agency. Unseen but palpable, a ring of stringent yet discreet security enveloped not just Suvarnabhumi Airport but all of Bangkok. This clandestine network has been activated to ensure the unequivocal safety of both the national leaders and the visiting Egyptian officials.

“Welcome to Thailand, Chief Moustafa Asker” Thaksin greeted, his smile a nuanced blend of warmth and authority. His body language spoke silently yet eloquently to the Egyptian leader of his peaceful intentions. Pausing momentarily, he continued, “I have been studying Egyptian language and found that it is a really enjoyable language. I hope my endeavor has paid back.” His laughter punctuated the sentence, revealing a commendable fluency in his guest's native tongue.

“I see you have brought those guards as per my request. They would benefit a lot from the additional training from our elite security guard of the NIA. It took us a million USD each to train them, so you can rely on it. But above all, I congratulate your nation for the restoration of the legitimate dynasty on the throne.” His chuckle resonated through the air as they walked into the heavily fortified terminal, where a throng of both citizens and media awaited them.

“Before we begin the negotiation, I want to make it clear that we respect your nation’s sovereignty, and we have no problem with the system of your government. We have recently proposed France the treaty that we plead to recognize their uniqueness of governance, which is a result of their people will. I have a high hope for our bilateral relationship and hope that you understand that our nation has been standing on a moral high ground that most nations don’t want to recognize.” As he concluded, a large media group would approach before them, hindering the path to the convoy. “Please allow me a brief moment.”

“Minster Prime Minister, what’s the implication of the Egyptian entourage amidst the crisis in the Middle East? What are the Thai Government planning its next step.” A journalist shot a question at him with the flashing light of broadcasting and photographs.

“I thank you for your question, but please allow me to focus on the current situation to respect our guest from Egypt.” The crowd stopped, eagerly waiting for his answer. “Thailand will always stand by those who support democracy, human rights, peace, stability, and security. We have no intention to drag other nations into the already volatile region. The Egyptian delegation was invited personally by me to their Majesty Sultan. It’s all about our effort to facilitate the friendly relationship between each nation. Thank you.” As he finished, the guards would request the media to step away. Thaksin and the Chief would enter the same car.

While his Aid's eyes would track the aircraft through the sky in hardly veiled awe, Moustafa and his guards would maintain a steely disposition as they walked toward the Prime Minister.

"This type of greeting is more fitting for our Sultan, wouldn't you agree, Mr. Shinawatra? Your grasp of Arabic is impressive, however, if you want to try and replicate Egyptian Arabic you certainly have a lot of work ahead of you. Shall we continue?"

Moustafa was chosen for his role for a specific reason - not because he was a particularly charismatic man, nor was he a smooth talker - but because he was unaffected by flattery of all kinds. A natural utilitarian, the oversized military greeting, and airshow went nearly unnoticed until the crowd began to close around them. Why have a military presence? Why brag about the money you invested into your men when you can't even manage to keep some press agencies at arm's length? It seemed in bad taste to him.

Moustafa would wait until the rest of his delegation was properly seated, leaving the Prime Minister's side to check each vehicle to ensure his subordinates were in good spirits before returning to the car with the Prime Minister. Upon entering the car, he would begin speaking with little flair, no smile, no flattery.

"I have come to understand that Thailand is known as a "World Power" in today's politics. That is a heavy mantle to hold; I hope you and your people are willing to bear it. You must be under higher scrutiny from everyone around the world, looked at with more criticism, and held to higher standards. Assuming you hold to these expectations, I find it commendable."

Now that he was in relative private, Moustafa would loosen his tie, take a breath mint from his pocket, and check that his issued PPK firearm was still firmly at his side. He had a background in the military, being one of the lead organizers of the on-the-ground actions that brought the Sultan back to power. Of pure Egyptian blood and a certainly Egyptian analytical mind, he had done poorly in university, where his lack of academic talent led to him dropping out. However, his dedication to his nation and to his Sultan brought him to prominence in the burgeoning Sultanate movement until he became one of the few men the Sultan trusted to stay overnight in his home.

The Ride
Dead or Alive?

In the confined space of the vehicle, Thaksin sensed that Moustafa was in need of a moment's respite—a pause he willingly granted, knowing the journey would span approximately half an hour. Thaksin was a man of genuine warmth and keen observation, yet his intellect operated on a plane far removed from the average individual. Sculpted by a prosperous career in business, he had evolved into a shrewd negotiator and a formidable strategist. Many would label him a genius, but even that term failed to capture the extent of his foresight.

As the highest-ranking officer within the NIA, Thaksin received counsel directly from the Director of NIA on domestic and external affairs. His background as a former policeman had also led the NIA to subject him to rigorous training. Every move had been calculated from the outset, and the societal advancements he sought to demonstrate to his Egyptian counterpart were no exception. It became evident that Moustafa was leagues behind in certain respects, while only marginally surpassing him in others. How had Thaksin discerned this nuanced dynamic? It wasn't a matter of telepathy, as some might speculate. Rather, his insights were gleaned from an elevated form of emotional intelligence.

As the convoy neared its destination, the imposing edifice of the Thai Government House loomed into view. The reception of foreign dignitaries was no trifling matter for Thailand; it was a solemn affair, steeped in diplomatic gravitas. Thaksin, fully aware of the weightiness of the occasion, felt the atmosphere thicken with expectation.

Upon arrival, the car came to a halt before the grand entrance, where a phalanx of officials and security personnel awaited them. A designated area had been cordoned off for reporters, their cameras poised to capture every nuance for the public record. As Thaksin and Moustafa alighted and ascended the entrance stairs, two figures approached them: Pitak, the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, and the saluting Chief of the Armed Forces. Shadows of the unknown lurked in the periphery, their presence felt but not seen.

The moment they crossed the threshold of the main gate, a red light flashed, its siren wailing like a bolt of lightning splitting the sky. In the blink of an eye, 69 NIA security agents materialized as if conjured from the ether. Thaksin found himself abruptly separated from Moustafa; each man now encircled by a swarm of agents. Guns were trained on Moustafa, aimed with chilling precision at his vital points. Whether munching on bread, sweeping the floor, or holding a firearm to Moustafa's temple, each agent exuded a malevolent aura, as if they were demonic incarnations poised to drag one's soul to the abyss.

"What's the matter?" Thaksin inquired, as an NIA agent lunged toward him to whisper urgently in his ear. Before another word could be spoken, a second agent, gun aimed at Moustafa, interjected, "I'm sorry, esteemed Chief, for our lapse in decorum. Firearms are prohibited during this meeting." A photograph materialized near the gate, capturing the tension of the moment. Another agent chimed in, "PPK gun, that's a fine choice."

By the point everyone had frozen, Moustafa had his sidearm drawn out of his coat and had it aimed squarely at one of the many agents surrounding him with threats on his life. He held a calm expression as he took in the situation, his gaze slowly sweeping back and forth, up and down, getting a grasp of the predicament he found himself in. Without moving his eyes from the man he had his pistol aimed at, Moustafa would speak to Thaksin.

"I won't have this. Have your men put down their arms. This is no great diplomatic greeting."

In some photographs taken by the amassed press, Moustafa's guards could be clearly seen in the background with their weapons trained on the agents surrounding their objective. They seemed untroubled by the Thai agents who were undoubtedly aiming weapons at them. The aids were cowering close to the ground, afraid of a potential gunbattle.

It was a certainty that the press would eat this up: a foreign delegation and the Thai PM with guns trained at each other, frozen in a moment of calculated panic, a flurry of arms and weapons painted red under the flashing of the red alert light. The siren would ring out, piercing in the silence that followed the eruption.

By the time that the convoy arrived at the Thai Government House, all the Egyptian guards would already be transported to training facility of the NIA. It was clear that Moustafa was no way match the skill and competent of the Thai NIA, a gun would already be pointing at his head when he was separated. As he tried to bring up his gun, a loud BANG would roar, a bullet piercing through his head. Moustafa would die immediately, and the agents would ask everyone to leave, ending the negotiation between Thailand and Egypt.

The same NIA agent would mock a dying body, “Was he going to say something. Pasit, could you file me an executed report under the law? He clearly committed crime with a death sentence. Egyptian is sure stupid with less than 10 IQ.”

All Egyptian delegates and guards would be jailed in the person afterward.

The entire incident, including the shooting of Moustafa, would be recorded and transmitted live by a CNN news team that was on the ground with other members of the press. The arrival of the Egyptian diplomat was being covered as one of many international overtures taken by the Thai government to build relations with other countries around the world. After the shooting of the Egyptian diplomat was transmitted over live TV, several other news stations reported on the incident and it was discussed on the international news portions of the evening news on CNN, NBC, and ABC in the United States. Political commentators pointed to Thailand's continual failures to conduct international relations, while those from the other point of view would point out that it did appear that the Egyptian diplomat did in fact have a weapon of some kind and raised it after dozens of Thai agents had their weapons drawn.

Much like CNN, NBC, and ABC in the United States, the entire affair would have been transmitted through Polish television screens via reporters from the Polish News Agency. The Polish Cameras, fixated on the Polish journalist standing off to the side of the delegation would relate the events as they happened in real time in Polish. Everything from the arrival of the Egyptian Diplomat to the eventual murder would be televised within the Kingdom of Poland for all to see. Several commentators from popular political commentary shows would criticize the Thai response to the recognized diplomatic agent of Egypt setting off alarms. It would continue to circulate over social media and the internet, forever immortalized in the online communities as the origin of several memes.
