Upon necessary arrangements between the two governments, Director-General Panthipha would depart from the Suvarnabhumi Airport, flying on an A350-900 toward Athens. Several advisors accompanied her as part of this official visit, each of them acutely recognizes the recent global financial crisis. By noon local time in Greece, she would arrive at Athens International Airport.

Upon her arrival, the Director-General would be picked up by a cavalcade of Bentley Mulsanne cars (adorned with Greek and Thailand flags) with supporting police escort. The cars would head to the Old Royal Palace building in the heart of Athens. The Director-General would be taken through the large palace and up the grand staircase towards the reception rooms. They would be met personally by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anastasia Douka, who would offer her hand.

"It is a great pleasure to meet you, Director-General. On behalf of the Hellenic people, I welcome you to Greece." She gestures towards a large ornate door. "Shall we proceed?"

Director-General Panthipha accepted the outstretched hand of her Greek counterpart with a weathered yet firm hand: “Minister Douka, thank you so much for such warm hospitality. It is my immense pressure to be hosted by you. Let’s proceed.” She followed the Greek Foreign Minister into the elaborate ornate room, where she settled down on a comfortable seat. After a moment of respite, Panthipha initiated the bilateral dialogue.

“Thank you again for agreeing to my official visit, Minister Douka. Thailand is committed to engaging with its international peers on an equal footing based on mutual trust and transparency. We are humbled by this dialogue’s prospects and Thailand desires a robust and lasting relationship with the Hellenic Republic. Amidst such an unprecedented budgetary crisis facing the international community, Thailand and Greece must stand together, knowing that we are stronger collectively.” She paused to drink any beverage served by the Greek side.

“For starters, Thailand proposes visa-on-arrival agreement for our citizens. We envision our future relationship where people can travel freely to engage in leisure and business opportunities within our nations. A reciprocal 60-day visa-on-arrival between Thailand and Greece will be ideal.” She flashed a warm, sincere smile.

Anastasia nodded in agreement, smiling at her counterpart. "I think visa-on-arrival is an excellent idea. Both of our countries are thriving tourist spots, the greater we can maximise this and provide people with opportunities to enjoy our nations, the better." She grabbed a note pad and began to write something down. "Perhaps we could also extend this to a scholarship programme? Greece is the leader of maritime shipping in the world, whilst Thailand is the gateway to South-East Asia, with huge resources when it comes to Agricultural Sciences. Both our nations could benefit from a strong educational partnership, as well as potentially looking at trade agreements."

Although Director-General Panthipha's smile softened, the tone of her voice remained formal. "Excellent, Minister Anastasia. After this meeting, Thailand and Greece will have a sixty-day bilateral visa-on-arrival program in place." She scribbled a hurried note on her tablet and went on. "Thailand opens its doors to educational exchange because we have the very highest standards of fair access and financing within our public system. To your question regarding agri-science, let me assure you that Thailand has the most sophisticated integrated agri-tech infrastructure anywhere in the world, an elaborate system of 21 regional research centers throughout our country. Do you want to draw out the very particular details of your vision on the spot?"

"For instance, Thailand and our European partners, France and the United Kingdom have special education exchange programs that foster enduring relationships between individuals over many years. If you have an idea for a comprehensive exchange program that covers everything from secondary and tertiary education to lifelong learning, we're interested. As part of our trade diversification strategy, we are searching for new trading partners in addition to India, whose economy has collapsed. But such trade needs to follow strong labor laws, sustainability, and fair trade principles."
