Dear Ambassador Hatfield,

I trust this correspondence finds you in good health and spirits. As representatives of our respective nations, we both understand and appreciate the intricacies of international relations and the importance of maintaining open channels of communication. It is in this spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that I write to you today.

The Republic of Thailand has noted the recent deployment of the joint U.S. Navy-Coast Guard task force to the waters surrounding New Caledonia. We recognize and respect the longstanding commitment of the United States to global peace and stability. As regional dynamics evolve, it becomes imperative for nations to be transparent in their intentions to foster trust and uphold international norms.

Thailand, as a beacon of progress and leadership in Asia, believes in upholding the principles of peace, cooperation, and respect for international conventions. Our endeavors in the Pacific, including in New Caledonia, have always been guided by these principles. We cherish our relationship with the United States and understand the nuances of your commitment to supporting your allies and the Monroe Doctrine.

However, it's crucial for both our nations to recognize and understand that the Pacific and Asia have their unique dynamics. Our shared history, cultural connections, and geopolitical concerns necessitate a careful and considerate approach to any engagements in the region.

While we appreciate the U.S.'s commitment to supporting its allies, the recent deployment near New Caledonia, a region where Thailand is actively participating in a coalition with other nations, raises questions and concerns. We believe that to maintain trust and mutual respect, it's imperative to ensure transparent communication and alignment of intentions.

With that in mind, the Republic of Thailand seeks clarity on the objectives of this deployment and reassurances that it aligns with the principles of peace, stability, and respect for regional dynamics. It's our hope that this can be a stepping stone for further dialogue and cooperation between our nations.

In conclusion, we remain committed to fostering open dialogue and understanding with the United States. We trust in the strength of our bilateral relations and believe that through mutual respect and collaboration, we can address any concerns that arise.

I look forward to your response and remain, as always, committed to the continued deepening of the ties that bind our two great nations.

With profound respect,

Somkid Jatusripitak
Deputy Prime Minister
Republic of Thailand

OFFICE OF THE UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR
TO THE REPUBLIC OF THAILAND

ENCRYPTED MESSAGE

TO: Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of The Republic of Thailand ( Bossza007 )
FROM: Lewis Hatfield, United States Ambassador to The Republic of Thailand

Deputy Prime Minister,

Thank you for your correspondence. The Federal Government appreciates your government's concerns. I can also say that the United States is grateful that nations like Thailand have left their part of the world to come into our part of the world to help a fellow nation in distress. It is important that nations of the world help others when the call for help goes out.

After in-depth correspondence with the French government, the President ordered a primarily-Coast Guard deployment near New Caledonia. While the United States is not currently planning on deploying troops onto the ground in New Caledonia, our task force is in place to provide off-shore support to our allies and friends in the area, as well as the legitimate French government. Per our most recent communication with the French government, we are hoping to transport French troops to New Caledonia so that they can handle the problems in their territory themselves. In the meantime, the United States Navy and Coast Guard is willing to operate in the area to ensure that our friends in the area are safe, other foreign nations do not try to take advantage of the situation, and quite frankly so that we can monitor the situation ourselves. The United States guarantees the territorial sovereignty and status quo of territories in the Pacific such as New Caledonia, and we fully support the French government's efforts.

I hope that this message has addressed the points of clarification that you have brought up. Please let me know if you have any further questions or need any more information. The last thing that we would want in a time like this is confusion. It would be foolish of any nation in the area to try to create some kind of tense situation where the others feel uncomfortable - we are all have the same objectives in mind.

Best regards,

Lewis Hatfield
United States Ambassador to The Republic of Thailand

Dear Ambassador Hatfield,

I trust this message greets you in a moment of well-being and tranquility. Your previous correspondence, marked by clarity and a genuine spirit of collaboration, has been received with the utmost appreciation and consideration by our offices.

As our two nations stand sentinel over the evolving tapestry of international relations, especially within the Pacific's intricate dance of geopolitics, the Republic of Thailand deeply values the foundational bedrock of trust and open dialogue. We believe that such communication not only forges stronger ties but also illuminates the path forward.

Your elucidation regarding the United States' stance in New Caledonia, especially concerning your partnership with the French government, paints a reassuring tableau of shared purpose and commitment. It is evident that our nations, though distinct in heritage and approach, share a luminous beacon of intent - one of peace, stability, and unwavering support for our allies.

Your commitment to aiding the French government in restoring stability to their territory, as detailed in your letter, has been noted with approbation. As we marshal our forces in proximity to New Caledonia, we are buoyed by the optimism that our joint endeavors shall underscore a harmonized international commitment to pacific tranquility.

While the tenets of the Monroe Doctrine, with its protective embrace, are respected and acknowledged, I must gently underline the necessity of seamless coordination in the Pacific's shimmering waters. An open line of communication between our naval contingents, aimed at preempting any inadvertent encounters or misinterpretations, would be a beacon of prudence.

Furthermore, contemplating the rapid currents of change, it might be in our shared interest to institutionalize a periodic consultative framework. Such a mechanism, potentially on a quarterly cadence, would serve as a conclave for our representatives to converge, deliberate on Pacific strategies, and reiterate our common aspirations.

Ambassador Hatfield, the annals of history between our nations resonate with mutual respect and a shared vision. As we stand at this juncture, it is my fervent hope that the symphony of our collaboration plays on, harmoniously weaving a legacy that future generations shall look upon with reverence.

Eagerly anticipating your reflections on the proposed avenues of engagement and cherishing our continued dialogue.

With the highest regard,

Somkid Jatusripitak
Deputy Prime Minister
Republic of Thailand
