To: <President of the United States of American> Odinson From: <Office of the Rotating Coordinator of the Socialist Republic of Thailand> Subject: Concerning Türkiye Security Type: NSST Architecture 1.5 | Secret and Encrypted |
President Benjamin V. Sinclair
I do not intend to disturb your tight schedule as the President of the United States of America, nor do I ever envision myself contacting a national leader whose electoral platform ran against the ideals of my nation. Please accept my advance and pre-emptive apology. However, Thailand and the United States share a single mutual interest. Correct me if I am wrong, but a centralized and authoritarian Türkiye is not to our countries’ preference.
I confess that I remain deeply disturbed that American democracy remains strictly limited to its political sphere. Regardless, I know better than prying into another country’s domestic affairs. However, the point is that we disapprove of the increasingly oppressive tendencies of a newly democratically elected government in Türkiye led by the Turkish Workers’ Party. The country’s current economy is extraordinary. I meant it with the utmost underestimation. Moreover, the post-revolutionary trajectory of the Turkish state is messy and ungracious.
Thailand’s intelligence service has been speaking with the Turkish civil society. Naturally, we also engaged deeply with the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (CTTU). This is the organization, with up to ten million members, that overthrew the previous anachronistic Ottoman regime. Strikingly, they founded the Turkish Workers’ Party. More importantly, they now only control a few dozen seats in the Turkish National Assembly. The CTTU is a democratic faction fighting against the authoritarian cabinet presided over by the Prime Minister Eda Yildiz. Of course, we have performed due diligence and found that President Aysa Aslan was once a syndicalist involved in the Turkish revolution.
I don’t presume you to listen to what I am about to say. However, Thailand remains committed to building genuine democracy in Türkiye. It is a system where the people have the right to vote and self-determination in their daily lives without being restrained to only exercising such right once every four years. Türkiye is a strategic location, and all nation-states seek to control its direction and alignment. Thailand stands with the Turkish people fighting for liberation, not some bureaucrats and self-serving politicians in the government. It is easy to discern the United States’ interest in the People’s Republic of Turkiye. And if you desire to get involved, I warn that you conduct enough research to know which faction is truly about the common people and hard-working families.
