Dear Lewis Hatfield,

This contact is the perfect and random time for the communication between Thailand and United States. I fully acknowledge that there is currently a war in the region that includes a country of mine. We are on the spot where we had the latest experience a few centuries ago, where we still fought with musket and sword. The US government still holds its international intervention policy as far as I am concerned, which convinces me that your government has already into the conflict between Thailand and Laos. We have captured the Lao General Secretary, who commit a criminal offense to assassinate our prime minister. Although the Thai government's official news source is correct, he still works with his aids to perform it. Thailand wants to end the war peacefully to keep the status quo and abandon its government casus belli, to overthrow the Lao government, which also applies the Armed Forces to stop its intention in operation to retake Laos. We have direct knowledge from China that they will forcefully push toward Laos if we advance further into Laos, and we are currently on a ceasefire. We know that Vietnam, we call them our ally, does oppose the invasion of Laos. Based on the United States and Vietnam relationship. It convinces me that they are the first to be concerned with the cause and possibly have communicated with the US government.

The Republic of Thailand, and especially my current policy on foreign affairs, do not want to drop the stability of Asia, specifically Southeast Asia, where we are currently at war. We are afraid that the Lao government is too proud to stop the conflict, as they have done during the peace talk. The Thai government wants to know about the United States government and its foreign policy on the current status of Thailand and Laos, and Asia. It is best to hear from you as you are the ambassador to Thailand, which will specialize in our affairs and regularly acknowledge the circumstance in Thailand from the inside. I know that the US government and other nations do not want to see Thailand be like Turkey, although we don't possess any ICBM to harm your people. Also, it is not a threat because I do not support the war. I have stated that we wish to keep the status quo. The Thai government and its people will be pleased if we can cooperate to find a way to stabilize Asia and resume a supportive cordial relationship between Thailand and the United States. We have started the 9th National Economic and Social Development Plan, and it shouldn't co-exist with the current conflict.

The Thai government wants to add the United States to the list of our allies. We ensure our intent to stop the war by withdrawing all 160,000 soldiers and their equipment from Laos if your government will promise to support us in the legalization of the peace treaty, which we need their leader to sign. We will help in the effort to rebuild Laos, including reparation, and we might receive assistance from the Australian government. We want to have a treaty regarding free trade agreements and visas following the war. Perhaps we can discuss our stance on each topic to settle our common interest. I want you to prioritize this message to the US government to secure stability. I will be waiting for your reply regarding this issue.

Best Regard
Surakiart Sathirathai
Minister of Foreign Affairs.
