Dear Hatfield
The Republic government of Thailand wishes to resume good ties with the United States we adopted to share our bond and ministration. Thailand and the United States have long been close allies and diplomatic partners. Throughout the Cold War, Thailand has established itself as the bastion of democracy in Southeast Asia, and we have worked together to assist the nations that have fallen into Communism. Thailand honored its relationship with the United States, in which we signed the Treaty of Amity and Economic Relations that we had permitted the US citizen to engage in business in Thailand on the same basis as Thai nationals. It has always been the policy of Thailand on international relations to maintain and improve its long-standing relationship with the United States. Thailand's current focus is to transform itself into a developed country, one of the nations in Asia that can serve its citizens' needs with development. Thailand plans to expand the market in which our manufacturer and producer can offer their product for sale, which is why I have reached out to the United States today. We want to establish the Thai-American Trade Negotiating Committee(TNC) for the negotiation supervision of the Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and the United States. It is the proposal that the Thai government wishes the United States Federal government to consider.
I would like you to forward this message to the US Federal government. The Thai government looks forward to hearing back regarding the proposal.
Sincerely
Thaksin Shinawatra
Prime Minister
Republic of Thailand
