Readout: Bilateral Meeting Between President Vladimir Putin and President Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine​

Today, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma in Sevastopol for a high-level bilateral dialogue focused on regional cooperation, economic development, and long-term security coordination between the two nations.

The two Heads of State engaged in frank and constructive discussions on a broad range of topics, including:

- Black Sea regional security, with particular attention to joint maritime coordination and naval deconfliction measures.​

- Energy sector collaboration, including potential joint ventures in gas extraction and storage development in the Black Sea basin.​

- Trade facilitation and industrial integration, especially in the fields of aerospace engineering, chemicals, and advanced manufacturing.​

- Cross-border infrastructure, with interest in expanding rail and port connectivity to strengthen civilian and commercial exchange.​

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining open channels of communication and to deepening bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, sovereignty, and shared interests.

President Putin thanked President Kuchma for his hospitality and welcomed further dialogue in the coming months, noting the “strategic potential of constructive engagement between Russia and Ukraine in times of regional and global complexity.”
