As part of an ongoing international defence intelligence review the Swedish Department of Defence would ensure that the details of this transfer, made publicly available, would be retained within both physical and electronic storage systems without detection. This was done in order to continue the progression and construction of a live and ongoing international defence picture enabling intelligence-led decision making processes in the future.

The Defense Intelligence Agency would note that the Swedish government has detected the non-coded transfer of funds from the Republic of Spain to the United States of America. DIA would securely pass this information to the office of the Secretary of Defense who would privately inform the President at his next National Security Council (NSC) briefing with the NSC advisory team and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. While it was not compromising that the Swedish knew - or now had a strong assumption - that the United States transferred two Los Angeles-class submarines to the Republic of Spain, it would call into question the best practices and procedures of how to best transfer sensitive equipment to allies in the future, and how to securely receive funds from them. The DIA would recommend to SECDEF that a white paper be written on American conventional and strategic capabilities compared to that of the Kingdom of Sweden.
