Canada is now highly competitive. Unfortunately it seems like nations like Thailand and Great Britain are being left in the dust a little. Poland has upset favourites Russia in the Women's Water Polo, coming runners-up with Israel winning the final. Israel are back to third place, United States are still on top but are slowing down. Strong fight between Sweden, Israel, Angola and China for second and third places. The next few days are crucial. @MichaelKnight

Poland and China both saw strong gains today. Italy now enters the competition, unfortunately not winning any medals today. Macau wins their second gold medal. However they're still very far behind the rest of the pack. A very tight contest between Angola, Sweden and Australia for second and third place with each nation a nose hair in front of each other. Latecomers Italy win their first gold medal in the women's road race. Team USA is really losing momentum now, not winning a single gold medal in the past two days. @MichaelKnight

Rising up to 5th place and being a nose hair behind Sweden who lead them by only 5 bronze medals. The host nation has risen back up to 2nd. President of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games AND IT'S FINALLY BEEN DONE! After nearly 2 weeks at the top of the medal tally, the United States has been knocked off! And it is their worst case scenario, their northern neighbours did it! Canada has won a total of 25 gold medals. An outstanding result, considering over a week ago they were near the bottom of the tally. The Rowing and Athletics has come through for Canada, as well as tournament events such as Baseball and Field Hockey. United States is now second, followed by Russia in third. The host nation is in fifth. Well done Canada! Two more days, keep it up. @MichaelKnight
