NBC4 Washington Washington D.C. has been called for Republican Avery LaFleur - local election officials have confirmed that LaFleur has won D.C. by 312 votes. This is the first time that the district has ever voted for a Republican in a national election. Multiple pollsters have stated on the record that high black turnout for LaFleur, coupled with low voter turnout for Edwards has contributed to this major upset. LaFleur: 132,464 votes. Edwards: 132,152 votes.
