Foreign Minister,

Greetings. I hope that you and the government of Norway are doing well. President Gore has expressed interest in opening a dialogue between the United States and the Kingdom of Norway. I could have just summoned the Norwegian Ambassador in Washington D.C. however I wanted to personally welcome you to your office and to the global stage. Would your government be interested in entering in a dialogue with our government, and if so, is the Norwegian ambassador in D.C. available to meet with me?

Christian Holter received a communication note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the United States of America's intentions to open dialogue with Norway. The United States and Norway's relationship first began in 1905, following Norway's separation from its union with Sweden. The United States and Norway enjoy a long tradition of friendly relations based on democratic values and mutual respect which have continued for the past 90 or so years.

The new Ambassador donned one of his finest suits and red ties whilst he grabbed all the notes he required and exited the Embassy with a security detail of three officers behind him, entering one of the Embassy owned cars as it left the Embassy grounds and made its way towards the Harry S. Truman Building at the other side of the city. The young Ambassador took the time to read through the notes his staff had prepared earlier in the day.

After the fifteen minute hop across the city, the vehicle would arrive at the Harry S. Truman building and the Ambassador stepped out with his briefcase and made his way into the reception area where he proceeded over towards the receptionist.

"Hello there. I have a meeting with Under Secretary Hale under the name of Christian Holter, could you please inform him of my arrival?"

"Welcome!" said a bubbly receptionist, "Please come with me," she said as she escorted the ambassador into the building. He was escorted to the Deputy Secretary of State For Political Affairs' office where he was waiting. The receptionist knocked on his door and then entered. She offered the ambassador and the Secretary some water, and got it for them if they wanted it, and then went on her way to leave the two men alone. Don shook the hand of the ambassador and offered for him to take a seat.

"Welcome to the home of the State Department, Ambassador. I hope that you are doing well. How is the new government in Oslo?" he asked as he sipped from his own glass of water. He was sitting behind his desk and looked excited to speak with the Norwegian diplomat.

Because Norway was no longer interested in discussing anything, the meeting was cut short and the former Under Secretary of State left the room. The Norwegian ambassador would be led out of the room and back to his embassy. It didn't help that Don Hale was also no longer the Under Secretary of State.
