President Clinton would walk into the news room, towards the podium, the room would be full of reporters from all news agencies including local newspapers. He'd offer a smile to the reporters as they take a stand upon his entrance.
"Thank you. Please, take your seats." He'd pause, whilst awaiting the reporters to sit down. He'd cough a little before continuing on. "I have just recently put down the phone after a small conversation with the now-President of Russia, Alexander Rutskoy. He has, in no uncertain terms, confirmed that the country of Russia has undergone a coup d'etat, for the third time this decade, by members of the Communist party. This one, however, has been successful and the Communist party is now in control of Russia. There has also been unconfirmed reports of gunfire in the streets of Moscow, also in and around the Kremlin. Now, to para-phrase President Regean: 'I can't believe that the Russian people will allow a reversal in the progress that they have recently made toward economic and political freedom. Based on my extensive meetings and conversations with him, I am convinced that President Yeltsin had the best interest of the Russian people in mind. I have always felt that his opposition came from the communist bureaucracy, and I can only hope that enough progress was made that a movement toward democracy will be unstoppable.'." He'd take a small pause, to allow the words to sink in. "I stand by the words of the former President, for nearly fifty years, we locked horns with the Soviet Union and Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and all through was brought to an end with President Yeltsin at the helm, and now all the work made to strive for peace and security has been undone by putsch's. However, with everything I have said, President Rutskoy has assured me that he will still be pushing for the movement of deescalation that President Gorbachev had been doing before him. I do hope that he follows through on this assurance. Thank you for listening, any questions can be directed to the Press Secretary, Mike McCurry."
Clinton would step down from the Podium, before Mike McCurry steps up. "Does anyone have any questions?"
