President Clinton would walk into the news room, towards the podium, the room would be full of reporters from all news agencies including local newspapers. He'd offer a smile to the reporters as they take a stand upon his entrance.

"Thank you. Please, take your seats." He'd pause, whilst awaiting the reporters to sit down. He'd cough a little before continuing on. "I have just recently put down the phone after a small conversation with the now-President of Russia, Alexander Rutskoy. He has, in no uncertain terms, confirmed that the country of Russia has undergone a coup d'etat, for the third time this decade, by members of the Communist party. This one, however, has been successful and the Communist party is now in control of Russia. There has also been unconfirmed reports of gunfire in the streets of Moscow, also in and around the Kremlin. Now, to para-phrase President Regean: 'I can't believe that the Russian people will allow a reversal in the progress that they have recently made toward economic and political freedom. Based on my extensive meetings and conversations with him, I am convinced that President Yeltsin had the best interest of the Russian people in mind. I have always felt that his opposition came from the communist bureaucracy, and I can only hope that enough progress was made that a movement toward democracy will be unstoppable.'." He'd take a small pause, to allow the words to sink in. "I stand by the words of the former President, for nearly fifty years, we locked horns with the Soviet Union and Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and all through was brought to an end with President Yeltsin at the helm, and now all the work made to strive for peace and security has been undone by putsch's. However, with everything I have said, President Rutskoy has assured me that he will still be pushing for the movement of deescalation that President Gorbachev had been doing before him. I do hope that he follows through on this assurance. Thank you for listening, any questions can be directed to the Press Secretary, Mike McCurry."

Clinton would step down from the Podium, before Mike McCurry steps up. "Does anyone have any questions?"

Jean Svyker of Swedish Television News would raise her hand and once chosen by the Press Secretary would stand and ask her question before the various other press associations present in the room.

"Hello my name is Jean Svyker from Swedish Television News - the statement by the President today was eye-opening... well I say eye-opening loosely... it sounded like a lot of big words from the government but not a lot of action, what exactly is the United States doing in this situation?"

"Thank you for your question... Ms. Svyker - apologies if I butchered the pronounciation. Anyway, as this is an on-going and new event, there is no certain plan of action and eitherway, due to it being a matter of National Securty, I can't answer that sort of question."

Julian Verzin raised his hand and did his best to get the attention of the press secretary. Once chosen, he would ask his question:

"Thank you... Julian Verzin, The Knightly Tribune. Is the Cold War still over, and will the United States still stand against the spread of communism around the world?" he asked. He prepared his notepad so that he could jot down the answer.

"The Cold War is officially over, however the threat of communism still looms. That being said, the last official stand by the US government on communism ended in 1991, with the end of the containment policy. I have not been advised or told about any new policy regarding the spread of Communism."

Xiaomei, a reporter for the CCTV, shot her hand up and asked her question:

"You say that 'the threat of communism still looms', but is communism really a threat to the USA? Does the USA still regard the ideologies of foreign countries as a threat to national security even though, as you said yourself, the policy of containment is over and so is the Cold War?"

"The Policy of containment was ended due to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fear of communism spreading was releaved, but now with more and more communist governments appearing. Especially in the far east and in Eurasia. The US government will be looking at all options."

Still not satisfied with the response, Xiaomei continued:

"But why? Why does the USA see communism as a threat? Does a country that adopts communism automatically become some sort of target for the US, even if the adoption of communism is of the will of the people?"

"I dont understand where you're getting this from? The President didnt say that Russia was now a target, nor has the US foreign policy every stated that China is a target because of Communism. However, as President Clinton said. Communism is a threat. That's all we have time for now folks, see you all later" Mike McCurry would close the folder he had open on the podium, before walking out of the press room.
