The crews would be given a 24 hour period of notification to spend time and say goodbye to their families, this 24 hour period would also include travel time for those living a little further away. The Commander for the Carrier Strike Group would be Rear Admiral John “Duke” Wade, his second in command and Chief of Staff would be Captain David E. Burke and the Command Master Chief, the person responsible for the personnel well being, would be Communications Technician Chief Petty Officer and ship writer, Jeremy K. Byrd.
