[Zimbabwe] A Step Too Far

The call had gone out to the citizens of Belgium that were visiting, or residing, in Zimbabwe to return home due to the increasing civil unrest that had been openly broadcast around the world by news outlets. A war of words had begun between the former colonial power and the former colony, however the time was coming for it to escalate to something more.

In contrast to the majority of Zimbabwe, which was classified as a tropical climate, Harare was blessed by its geographical position on a relatively high altitude plateau, and frequently graced with a cool south-eastern air flow, the climate was much cooler and drier than the rest of the country. However, this didn't stop the interior of the airport bearing Mugabe's name from being uncomfortable to be in. The passport control personnel had been ordered to look out for any Belgians attempting to leave the country, and they were feverishly checking the passports put forward for such markings. In terms of flights, there were only two other airports that served international airlines in Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe International was the largest.

The Belgian Government would emphasize its commitment to the secure well being of Belgian citizens in Zimbabwe along with those whites in Zimbabwean of Belgian descent looking for moral support should any trouble come their way regardless of relations with the regime in Salisbury. On a final note, Belgium would authorize the use of force in the service of peace if Zimbabwe continues the course its on at the moment.
