Subject: Emirati-Taiwanese Relations

President Ing-Wen,

Greetings to you and your people from the United Arab Emirates! I'm hopeful that this can be the opening of a prosperous relationship between the UAE and Taiwan, one which will promote mutual respect, joint collaboration, and increased contact between our two peoples. With the UAE being a major energy exporter, the rapidly expanding markets of East Asia are of particular interest to the Emirates and establishing positive diplomatic relations with all of the government's of your region is a top priority for the UAE.

While the UAE would also like to promote the establishment of much closer diplomatic, commercial, industrial, and military ties with the Taiwan going forward, as I'm of the belief that such engagement would greatly benefit both of our rapidly developing nations. The UAE's economy is rapidly diversifying from one heavily reliant on the extraction of fossil fuels, to a global leader in tourism and transportation, while also being the leading Middle Eastern nation in commercial banking, financial services, light and heavy industry, electronics, and cutting edge R&D, and we feel strongly that through greater partnership with Taiwan, both the UAE and Taiwan can be further transformed into one of the world's leading economies.

To discuss this opportunity in front of us and a range of other subjects further, I would like to invite you or a representative of your government to meet with me here in Abu Dhabi ASAP, in order for us to take this outreach to the next level. Should you accept, I would also like to encourage you to invite Taiwanese business leaders with you to Abu Dhabi, as I will likewise invite a range of Emirati businessmen, ministers, and fellow Emirati Royals to the meeting, as I feel a roundtable discussion would be best. It's my firm hope that Taiwan and the UAE can engage in both civil and military sales to one another during this meeting, which has the potential to be a great success.

Sincerely,

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Union Defense Forces,

Abu Dhabi International Airport,Abu Dhabi,United Arab Emirates -

In Abu Dhabi a sizeable Emirati delegation was awaiting the arrival of the Taiwanese Boeing 777-300ER "Taiwan Air Force Kilo" Flight at Abu Than I'd sprawling international airport. The Emirati delegation welcoming Taiwanese Vice-President Chien-jen and the rest of the Taiwanese delegation to the United Arab Emirates was headed by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, who many considered to be the most powerful man within the UAE and the power behind his older brothers throne. Also waiting for the arrival of the Taiwanese delegation was His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Emir of Sharjah, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Mr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of Economy of the UAE, Mr. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Commander of the United Arab Emirates Navy, His Highness Rear Admiral Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Nehyan, and Chief of Naval Staff of the United Arab Emirates Navy, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

A welcoming pavilion was set up on the tarmac of the massive ultra-modern international airport, with the pavilion being erected in front of Terminal 2, so that the dignitaries would be shaded from the oppressive sunshine pounding down on the tarmac. An opulent red carpet, which displayed the emblems of all seven of the Emirates that makeup the United Arab Emirates embroidered in fine gold leaf, was unfurled from the welcoming pavilion to an awaiting air stairway, which would disembark the Taiwanese delegation. A large honor guard, which was compromised of members from every branch of the Union Defense Forces flanked either side of the red carpet, while the United Arab Emirates Air Force Band was also present and awaiting the arrival of the Taiwanese delegation, upon whose arrival the national anthems of Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates would be played by the UAE Air Force Band.

Security for the event was rather tight, given all the high-level dignitaries in attendance and that security was provided by two companies (150 guardsmen each) of the elite UAE Presidential Guard Command. One company of the UAE Presidential Guard Command was tasked with point protection for the dignitaries, these guardsmen were all dressed in black suits, all of them carried concealed Caracal EF 9x19-mm Semi-Automatic Pistols, with their primary weapons either being Caracal CMP 9 STD 9x19-mm Submachine Guns or Caracal CAR 816 5.56x45-mm Compact 10.5" Carbines. The second company of the UAE Presidential Guard Command was tasked with securing the perimeter around the pavilion and the adjacent area, they were dressed in their standard black and desert sand camo fatigues, and were deployed along the perimeter of the designated area. This company of the UAE Presidential Guard Command carried heavier weapons, though all still carried a Caracal EF 9x19-mm Semi-Automatic Pistol as a sidearm, while their primary weapons were the Caracal CAR 817AR 7.62x51mm NATO Assault Rifle 12.5" and the Caracal CAR 816 5.56x45-mm Carbine 16". While three teams of two snipers were deployed atop the terminals from excellent vantage points, giving them a clear view over the whole of the designated area. The snipers were armed with Caracal CSR 338 .338 Lapua Magnum Tactical Sniper Rifles and the observer's were armed with Caracal CAR 817DMR 7.62x51-mm NATO Designated Marksman Rifles. A final outer layer of security was provided the Abu Dhabi Police Force, who provided an additional two hundred police officers, who were deployed in pairs, operating Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 SUV's, which were the standard police vehicle of the Abu Dhabi Police Department. The police officers were all armed with Caracal EF 9x19-mm Semi-Automatic Pistols, while inside each of their Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 SUV's were one Caracal CAR 816 5.56x45-mm Compact 10.5" Carbine and one Ithaca 37 12-Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun.

Once "Taiwan Air Force Kilo" finally safely landed and taxied to the awaiting air stairway and red carpet, Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan walked down the red carpet, dressed in the traditional flowing white robes of an Emirati man of status. Crown Prince "MBZ" as the media had dubbed him, was an impressively built man of fifty seven and stood over six feet tall, who'd been instrumental in the development of the UAE's economy and the expansion of the Union Defense Forces, even before the death of his legendary father, the founder of the United Arab Emirates and longtime Emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. MBZ's influence within the UAE had only grown in recent years, following his brother, the current President of the UAE and Emir of Abu Dhabi's health issues, leading many to call MBZ the de-facto ruler of the UAE. Educated at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, MBZ had major ambitions for the UAE as an economic and regional regional power not only within the Arabian Peninsula, but projected out into East and North Africa, the whole of the Middle East, and even as far as South Asia. The Crown Prince hoped that his meeting with the Taiwanese Vice-President Chien-jen would go great lengths to starting this process of the UAE's outward expansion and arrival as a significant world player within the international community.

Once Vice-President Chien-jen finished descending the air stairway, Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan shook his hand and said "Welcome to the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Vice-President Chien-jen! I hope you had a tolerable flight? Now if you'll follow me I'll introduce you to the Emirati dignitaries who have assembled to welcome you to the UAE.". The two leaders then walked down the red carpet to the welcoming pavilion, where the Crown Prince introduced the Taiwanese Vice-President and the members of his delegation to the gathered Emirati dignitaries. Emirati and international media was then allowed to take pictures and videos of the Emirati and Taiwanese leaders and dignitaries as the UAE Air Force Band struck up the national anthems of each nation.

With the formalities having come to a close, the Crown Prince then led both delegations to an awaiting motorcade from the UAE Presidential Guard Command, which was made up of a dozen Emirati made armoured STREIT Range Rover 560 Supercharged 4x4 SUV's, several dozen Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 SUV's, and several dozen NIMR Ajban 440A 4x4 Tactical Vehicles, all operated by the UAE Presidential Guard Command, with dozens of Abu Dhabi Police Force Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 SUV's taking up the front and the rear of the motorcade. The motorcade then got underway, speeding down the highway which had been closed to all traffic aside from the motorcade. The Emirati and Taiwanese delegations then arrived at Abu Dhabi's spectacular 5 Star Emirates Palace Hotel, where the official meeting would take place over the coming days. As the motorcade pulled into the Hotel, the Crown Prince then said to Vice-President Chien-jen "Would you like to rest for a few hours in your suites before we begin our meeting? Or would you like to get underway immediately?".
