President Ing-Wen,
Greetings to you and your people from the United Arab Emirates! I'm hopeful that this can be the opening of a prosperous relationship between the UAE and Taiwan, one which will promote mutual respect, joint collaboration, and increased contact between our two peoples. With the UAE being a major energy exporter, the rapidly expanding markets of East Asia are of particular interest to the Emirates and establishing positive diplomatic relations with all of the government's of your region is a top priority for the UAE.
While the UAE would also like to promote the establishment of much closer diplomatic, commercial, industrial, and military ties with the Taiwan going forward, as I'm of the belief that such engagement would greatly benefit both of our rapidly developing nations. The UAE's economy is rapidly diversifying from one heavily reliant on the extraction of fossil fuels, to a global leader in tourism and transportation, while also being the leading Middle Eastern nation in commercial banking, financial services, light and heavy industry, electronics, and cutting edge R&D, and we feel strongly that through greater partnership with Taiwan, both the UAE and Taiwan can be further transformed into one of the world's leading economies.
To discuss this opportunity in front of us and a range of other subjects further, I would like to invite you or a representative of your government to meet with me here in Abu Dhabi ASAP, in order for us to take this outreach to the next level. Should you accept, I would also like to encourage you to invite Taiwanese business leaders with you to Abu Dhabi, as I will likewise invite a range of Emirati businessmen, ministers, and fellow Emirati Royals to the meeting, as I feel a roundtable discussion would be best. It's my firm hope that Taiwan and the UAE can engage in both civil and military sales to one another during this meeting, which has the potential to be a great success.
Sincerely,
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Union Defense Forces,
