◤ Modern Nation Rules
Last Updated: 08/07/2026 | Updated By: Hollie
Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, all references to time and durations refer to real-world time. All references to recruitment costs represent minimum baseline values. Players may invest more than the minimum recruitment cost to improve the quality, readiness, and performance of personnel. "Roleplay threads" include all posts, topics, content, and subforums made as part of roleplay. The Community Support Team reserves the right to amend or interpret these rules at its sole discretion.
◤ General
[1] Worldwide Roleplay and Global Economics are designated roleplay areas. All posts within these sections must remain in character.
[2] Roleplay threads written in a language other than English must include an English translation. If no direct translation is possible, sufficient context, including map coordinates where applicable, must be provided.
[3] Players are entitled to a 24-hour grace period to respond to any roleplay thread requiring their participation. Participants may mutually agree to longer response windows where appropriate.
[4] Any roleplay thread that directly concerns another player must include a tag notifying them. If a player is not tagged when the thread is originally posted, subsequently editing the thread to add a tag will not generate a notification, as the thread is no longer considered new.
[5] Once posted, roleplay threads may not be substantially edited. Only minor corrections, such as spelling, grammar, formatting, or typographical errors, are permitted. The sole exception is Military Rule 4.
[6] A character may not be portrayed or employed simultaneously in multiple active roleplay threads unless doing so is practical, logically consistent, and does not create conflicting timelines.
[7] Threads containing sensitive or classified information must be clearly marked using one of the following security classifications. Classifications placed in the thread title do not satisfy this requirement.
- Restricted
- Private
- Confidential
- Encrypted
- Classified
- Secret
- Top Secret
[9] Artificial intelligence (AI) may not be used to write roleplay posts. AI may be used to assist in drafting supporting materials, such as policies, legislation, treaties, or other worldbuilding documents that are not themselves roleplay; however, all roleplay writing must be your own original work.
◤ Military and Intelligence
[1] Military roleplay threads must contain a minimum of one hundred words. Threads that fail to meet this requirement may be reported for removal. However, if an in-character response is made to such a thread before it is removed, the thread will be treated as valid roleplay irrespective of the breach.
[2] New players are immune from intelligence operations and armed conflict for ninety-five days. This protection allows new players to establish themselves safely. The Community Support Team may reduce or withdraw this immunity where appropriate.
[3] Before engaging in military roleplay, players must maintain an Order of Battle (ORBAT) within their nation's subforum. At a minimum, the ORBAT must detail the command structure, personnel, units, equipment, military bases, airfields, installations, and any overseas facilities. Personnel and equipment not assigned within the ORBAT are presumed to be stationed in the nation's capital.
[4] Every military operation must begin with an overview thread outlining its objectives, belligerents, order of battle, and staging points. If any of these details change during the operation, the overview thread must be amended to reflect the latest developments.
[5] Deployed forces are presumed to begin operations fully supplied and capable of limited self-sustainment. Thereafter, players are responsible for maintaining their logistical support.
[6] Military equipment with interchangeable weapon systems must have its configuration specified in the operation overview. Any unspecified weapon systems will not be considered installed on the deployed platform. Players may equip or alter these configurations through subsequent roleplay.
[7] Unless otherwise stated, vessels underway are presumed to be travelling at their maximum sustainable speed.
[8] All overseas, maritime, and overland military deployments must have their routes recorded within the relevant roleplay thread using the transit map as reference.
[9] Warfare-related technologies, such as chemical, biological, and radiological warfare, are acceptable forms of roleplay. Their development does not necessarily require genetic engineering — smallpox, plague, and anthrax are deadly enough in their natural states. Nuclear weapons are prohibited due to their severe and indiscriminate environmental damage. Ballistic missiles may only carry conventional, chemical, biological, or radiological warheads where such capabilities have been appropriately researched.
[10] A research institute must be constructed before chemical, biological, or radiological weapons may be researched, developed, produced, or transferred. All other military research is subject to approval by the Community Support Team and must be based on real-world prototypes rather than fictional technologies.
[11] A minimum of fifteen consecutive days of military roleplay is required to invade territory controlled by another geopolitical entity. This requirement does not apply where territory is transferred through mutual agreement in exchange for monetary consideration.
[12] Successful territorial occupations are considered permanent unless reversed through subsequent roleplay. Occupied states may continue military operations to regain their independence.
[13] Brazil, China, India, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States are designated Class A nations due to their size, historical significance, or strategic importance. No Class A nation may be fully occupied by another Class A nation.
[14] Non-player countries may not be invaded without prior authorisation from the Community Support Team. Requests must be submitted through a support ticket.
[15] Military recruitment requires a minimum training period of fourteen days. Each recruit undergoing basic training costs a minimum of $20,000.
[16] Static radar installations are presumed to be continuously operational. Mobile radar systems and military units are only considered operational when participating in an active military operation thread.
[17] Players must establish the appropriate infrastructure before undertaking intelligence operations. Intelligence recruitment requires a minimum training period of thirty-one days, and each intelligence officer undergoing training costs a minimum of $65,000.
◤ Economic Transactions
[1] National origin determines product ownership. If ownership cannot be determined, ownership is equally divided between the manufacturer(s), particularly the nations where those entities are incorporated or headquartered. Product variants inherit the ownership status of the original product unless otherwise agreed by the Community Support Team.
[2] Players may become product owners by acquiring half or a majority of shares in a product, parent company, or subsidiary. This supersedes the ownership rules above.
[3] Players who have recently joined or requested a transfer may not purchase shares for ninety-five days.
[4] Unless an order is cancelled before passing quality control, the thread owner will be charged in full regardless of circumstances, including duration periods, cancellations, or product restrictions. Any losses arising from this rule are non-recoverable.
[5] Players may not produce the same product more than once within a twenty-four-hour period. Players producing products on behalf of others may produce the same product for multiple players; however, they may not produce the same product for the same player more than once within the same period.
[6] Unless otherwise authorised, Purchase Orders must use the product name exactly as it appears in the Catalogue.
[7] The variant being produced must be specified in the title or description of the relevant roleplay thread. If no variant is specified, the product will be considered the original production version.
[8] Vessels under two hundred and sixty feet in length may be produced under the Vehicle Production category.
