Message to:
Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden
Message from: Lt. Gen. Adolfo Cambiasso, President of the Republic of Argentina

Prime Minister,
After your Governments persistence in mantaining neo-colonial and expansionists goals on lands that do not belong to your Kingdom, and having caused damage to argentine property and citizens, we have declared the state of War between our nations. To avoid escalation, the Republic of Argentina will unilaterally create an exclusion zone, limiting the area of engagement to below the 60°S and to military and armed units with clear intentions to enter said sector. As signatory, the Republic of Argentina will respect the Geneva Conventions.

We have withdrawn all argentine diplomatic personnel from Stockholm and declared the Swedish embassy staff in Buenos Aires persona non-grata, giving them period stipulated in the Vienna Conventions of Diplomatic Relations to leave the country.

We call you once more to withdraw all swedish military units from Antarctica and relinquish your illegit claim on the continent. Once swedish military units have left the sector, Argentina will guarantee, with international cooperation, that the status prior to your expanionists attempts is reinstated on Antarctica and the continent is open to science of all nations.

Sweden is over 15,000km away, fighting a war it cannot expect to win. We pledge you to reconsider your options and avoid further casualties and damage. Should you be open to accept this, I will be glad to hear and talk to you.

Sincerely yours,

Lt. Gen. Adolfo Cambiasso
President of the
Republic of Argentina

The present message would be sent to Sweden directly, and afterwards broadcasted on argentine media as well as given to international news agencies.

Argentina would withdraw all its diplomatic personnel from Sweden immediatly, destroying all confidential, classified or sensible documents, connections, codes, hard-disks and all possible sources of information for Sweden.

With Sweden failing to act upon the public argentine declaration of the swedish diplomatic personnel in Buenos Aires persona non-grata under Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, including a direct notification to the swedish authorities, and with several days passed from the minimum customary time to leave the country of 48hs, all diplomatic immunities would be waived and the swedish personnel in Buenos Aires would be now subject to argentine national law.

Considering the state of war between both nation and the refusal for them to leave the country they would be formally accused of espionage by the argentine justice, which would issue an immediate order of detention for all former swedish diplomatic and auxiliary personnel formally stationed at the Embassy/Consulate and Residence of Sweden in Buenos Aires.

Federal police units would quickly arrive at the scene and enter the building after citing the declaration of persona-non grata, the refusal for the personnel to leave the country and the order from the argentine justice.

No swedish security personnel or weapons (declared or undeclared) would be stationed at this representation, so police would find no significant resistance. They would immediatly enter the office and detain all personnel currently inside, reading their rights out loud in english, securing all documents, archives and computers (disconnecting them from their internet acces to avoid remote control). If the personnel would try to resist, non lethal force would be employed to preserve the physical integrity of all former swedish representatives. At least 24 police officers would enter the building to perform this job, armed with taser and pepper spray, while reinforcements would remain on the outside, having cut traffic and established a special sector for media to not interfere.

All this would be done publicly, since it was a totally legal move according to international law. Swedish personnel would be then loaded into a police transport, guaranteeing their wellbeing at all times, and moved to a secure federal police facility where they would be held in isolation and with no outside communication.

Same procedures would be conducted at the swedish Residence. A list of all registered swedish personnel would be used to avoid letting anyone escape.

In the meantime, all argentine personnel in Sweden would have left the Sweden by now and the information assets, as mentioned, totally destroyed.

The Government would then issue a formal public statement informing the detention of the former swedish personnel after their failure to leave the country, despite being the swedish authorities informed of and given plenty of time to do so.

Secret

Two Norwegian police cars, each containing four armed officers, drove up Drammensveien and parked across the street from the Argentine Embassy. They shut off their engines and were to remain there until they were issued further orders. Any movements into or out of the embassy were securely transmitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Intelligence Service.

The Swedish Department of Foreign Affairs awaits the deportation of those declared persona non-grata - the expectation was that Argentina would allow for the diplomatic missions between our states to continue pending the resolution of the matter currently in the Global Assembly given that they serve no threat to the state, their national security or their capability to operate in Antarctica. A very brief statement is released by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs:

"I, and the government, are disappointed to see that the Republic of Argentina has decided to begin putting the livelihoods of innocent civilians on the line in pursuit for international reputation. Diplomatic Missions are an essential part of tourism, overseas judicial processing of foreign nationals and inter-state communication; these threads have been severed. The Department of Foreign Affairs is committed to resolving this matter and any Swedish nationals stuck abroad are advised to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs emergency number at their earliest convenience for up-to-date information."

A public statement would be made in response.

"The Republic of Argentina, in accordance with international law and making use of its sovereign rights, considering the existent state of war between Argentina and Sweden, declared the swedish embassy personnel as persona-non-grata, and were given ample time to leave the country. Failure to do so has been interpreted as a threat to national security, given the official nature of these swedish citizens, and as a consequence the argentine justice has charged them with espionage.

Federal justice will look into the case and does not rule out extratiction, but this is not a short process.

Due to the complex nature of this matter, the Kingdom of Sweden refers this matter to the International Court of Justice, seeking an impartial and independent court oversees the trial of Swedish nationals; approximately 300 personnel in total spanning across the four locations Sweden occupied in Argentina. Given that the two states are currently in a 'state of war' the civilians would all be declared a Prisoner-of-War and in recognising the Geneva Conventions would in turn demand that these prisoners are held in a neutral state pending resolution of ongoing hostilities.

Ordinary swedish citizens remain free to live and work in Argentina if they have the proper visas and permits. This is sadly not the case for swedish government officials, directly working for the swedish state and receiving directives from Stockholm during a state of war.

Argentina acted following the Vienna Convention on diplomatic affairs, even giving them 3 times the minimum period stipulated for this cases to leave the country.
