Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão

The Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (Brazilian Television System) is a Brazilian television network founded on August 19, 1981 by the businessman and television personality Silvio Santos. The company was established after a public tender by the Brazilian Federal Government to form two new networks, created from revoked concessions of the defunct Tupi and Excelsior networks. SBT was funded in the same day that the concession agreement was signed and was broadcast live by the network, marking the network's first ever aired program.

South African Grand Prix: A Bitter-Sweet result.

This weekend marked the first round of the International Racing Championship, the first round of the competition occurred in South Africa, and even with all the Political unrest brought along by the Grand Prix, the event went on as planned, with Rattanasakosin Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn winning with a 7.9 second lead over British runner up Alex Fox, to complete the podium was the German fan favourite Morgen Luxemburg.

However, all eyes of Brazil were drawn towards the Brazilians of Antarctica Motor Racing, where did they end up?

In an unfortunate turn of events, Rubens Barrichello's A97 would run into issues with its brakes, ending the race for the Brazilian.

Not all was lost however, Felipe's race was a different one, the young rookie pushed the car to its limits, showing great speed and pace against the rest of the midfield, although Felipe was unable to catch Morgen Luxemburg, who held a 15-second lead to him, the young Brazilian would come home to report a satisfactory P4 to the Team.

"It was a Bitter-Sweet result" explained Team Manager Alex Ribeiro "Although in the end, it would have been great to finish with both cars in the points, we still managed to get a great result and a great position to start off in both championships, We will take the lessons we learned from this Grand Prix and use them to improve the car's performance."

The next round of the Championship will be in the Rattanakosin Kingdom for the Rattanakosin Grand Prix, you can follow our coverage of the Grand Prix Weekend through the internet and radio.

Today his Royal Highness, the Crown Prince of Brazil, Dom Bertrand, announced that the struggling Quitandinha Palace had been purchased by the Royal Family for an undisclosed amount, his Royal Highness has stressed that the Hotel Condominium and the ground where it stands shall continue to function as normal.

"Although the Ownership of the Quitandinha Palace Hotel has changed, its employees can rest assured that nothing shall change, we plan to expand the building's operations, opening more positions for those looking to work in the magnificent palace.

We have plans to bring the Quitandinha back to its feet through new events and projects which you may look forward to in the coming months."

The Quitandinha Palace is a well-known tourist attraction in the Rio de Janeiro Province, constructed in 1944 under the leadership of Brazilian Entrepreneur Joaquim Rolla and designed by Italian architect Luis Fosatti, it was one of the most luxurious hotels in Brazil and one of the biggest casinos in South America.

The Palace was known for receiving people such as Errol Flynn, Orson Welles, Lana Turner, Henry Fonda, Maurice Chevalier, Greta Garbo, Carmen Miranda, Walt Disney and Bing Crosby. As well as Harry S Truman in 1947. The Palace was also the location for the declaration of war from the American nations against the Axis powers.

With the outlawing of Casinos in Brazil by President Dutra in 1946, the Casino suffered, with the Hotel rooms not being enough to pay for the building's Upkeep, Since 1963, the Hotel has been converted into a luxurious condominium.

1998 Elections: What to expect?.

With one month until the election, the question still remains, what to expect? With the election just around the corner, SBT has organized a list of each candidate, their coalition and finally, what we believe will be the coming results!.

Henrique Alves da Souza Hohenberg

Fernando Henrique Cardoso

Flávio Gurgel Rocha

Orestes Quércia

Brazilian National Movement

"National Alliance" Coalition.
(
MNB, AVANTE, MDB, PP, PSL, PTSC)

Brazilian Social Democracy Party

Republican Democrats of Brazil

Brazilian Labour Party

"New Left" Coalition.
(PTB,GP)

Now on to our predictions!

It's a grim election for the Opposition, especially for parties such as the Republican Democrats, which ever since the 1993 referendum were the main opposition to the Rapidly growing Brazilian National Movement, We predict that they will lose even more strength ever since their "Democracy Now" Coalition was outlawed, It seems they will have to review their positions if they wish to remain relevant.

With the rest of the parties, the situation in the Provinces and Municipalities can still be a very big toss up.

The Brazilian National Movement's popularity will remain strong, especially with all the party has done in the small time it has been in power, with their allies, it is possible that the young movement is capable of securing enough seats in the Parliament to form an Absolute majority in the Government, to the nightmare of the Opposition.

When it comes to the election for Prime Minister, We predict that the "National Front" Coalition will win, with a Landslide victory over all other Candidates, if this came true, it would make Henrique Hohenberg the Youngest figure to be elected to the position of Prime Minister in Brazil's history, with just 35 years.

Although please keep in mind, these are just predictions, and anything can still happen when election night comes.

We will be covering the election live as the votes come, so stay tuned!

1998 Elections: "Foreign Ideals were, and will, be our Downfall." Hohenberg says.

Continuing our coverage of the 1998 Elections, we bring an Interview with BNM's Candidate, Henrique Hohenberg.

Henrique has promised to continue the work that his predecessor, Prime Minister Cardoso, has done.

"
Cardoso has constructed a great base for the next government to continue on from, the Plano Mauá has greatly lowered the unemployment rates of much of Brazil, as well as began assisting the people in the poorer provinces of the North-East, additionally, Brazil: 2000 will still continue on as planned."

Additionally, in one of his most controversial statements, Henrique has vowed to completely eradicate the slums from Brazil.

"
Yes, I still stand by that, the Slums are a national embarrassment for Brazil, a product of the incompetence of the Politicians of the past decades, while this problem still stands, we can never call ourselves a first world nation.

Which is why, as I've said before, I wish to give the people of these slums appropriate housing in locations that are safe. Tear down the Favelas, Neighborhood by Neighborhood, They are a safety hazard for both the people and the environment."

When asked about the Opposition, Henrique had the following to say.

"
Foreign Ideals were, and will be, our downfall. It was such ideals that brought Brazil to its knees in 1889 and turned the country into an unstable cycle of authoritarian oligarchies and dictatorships.

Fernando Henrique and Flávio Gurgel are two faces of the same coin, they are both elitists who are using Foreign ideals to bring Brazil back into the same vicious cycle of political instability for their own personal gain, mark my words, they may be against each other now, but once time comes, the scissor theater will open its curtains to reveal their true colors.

I don't have much to comment on Quércia, he left BDM after they agreed to support my party, I can see his points and I respect him as my opponent, but that is about it."

With the elections coming, Henrique is predicted to win as the most popular candidate, with Fernando Henrique in a far away 2nd place.
