[Germany] Call to the Ottoman Embassy in Berlin

"Well, I am looking for someone to help testify against the Brazilians for their egregious violation of international law, and to the fact that the declaration of persona non grata was public."

"I will be asking several Heads of State to testify against that, but I imagine that the Sultan traveling to the Hague would be rather...difficult, given his condition. Would I be able to count on you to testify in court about the violation of international law?"

The Kaiser sighed in relief, tension beginning to roll off his shoulders, but still remaining. Until Brazil was appropriately punished, the Kaiser didn't think that he could get good sleep, have a good mood, or anything that he was known for...it was just...depressing, and hearing that the Turkish Ambassador would also testify on his behalf was a life saver.

"Thank you...thank you so much...I'm just...I'm so grateful that I have allies; I'm grateful that I'm not alone in this; I'm grateful for your intervention...I just..." the Kaiser began, voice shaky and composure close to breaking, just like back in winter.

Doctor Mason glanced at the inspector and gestured towards the door. The police officer swiftly made himself scarce and left the room, leaving the ambassador alone with The Kaiser.

"What's on your mind, Your Majesty?"

"This entire...this entire ordeal!" the Kaiser sniffed, his composure falling apart, "I just...I feel so filthy for allowing this to happen! I feel so guilty for my part in all of this! I just...I am more than stressed, I am frightened of bringing this whole ordeal to court!"

"Your Majesty, if you hadn't called off the siege, the lives of those 6 Germans would have been in the hands of your Minister Of The Interior. If he had refused to extend the time Inspector Karaca had to negotiate, or demanded the assault begin immediately, you would have had to explain to their families why the government they pay taxes for recklessly allowed their loved ones to be brutally murdered. Pick your battles, Your Majesty, that fight was not one you would have truly won. You, and your government, would have been blamed for going in guns blazing, ignoring the threat that hung over those six civilians if you had done so. What's worse is that we didn't know there were hostages until AFTER the siege. Tell me, how would it reflect on the police if it became apparent that they went in without actually ascertaining who was inside? They would be seen as reckless and incompetent, only concerned with shooting their guns, instead of protecting the people."

"I suppose, but what's the point?" His Majesty pleaded, "Why bring this to court if I am seen as a pariah already for allowing it to continue this far?"

"Not at all, it's good to see that you're pursuing peaceful methods to obtain compensation for what Brazil's done," Doctor Mason clarified. "What I was trying to say to you was that you need to pick your battles. The siege was one that you would not win in the manner that you want to. Since it would be overshadowed by the carelessness displayed, if those 6 hostages had died."

"I suppose...thank you doctor...I will think about it from that angle...regardless, I don't think it can be stated enough how much I thank both of you for your service to my country. Now, you have a good day...I have to get your colleague's Royal Cross and his gun to him."

After the Kaiser hung up, His Majesty set up another private and encrypted call with the Federal Police Director. After a few pleasantries, he was able to have his Minister for the Royal Household go and grab the weapon, along with a Royal Cross in a display case displaying the Prussian color scheme and eagle on the front. After arriving at the Embassy of Turkey in Berlin, Ms. Kästner knocked on the door in order to hand over both items, along with a thank you note made by His Majesty that was hidden inside the display case.

A tired looking Inspector Karaca opened the door to the embassy. Upon noticing his gun, the usually grumpy officer smiled.

"I do believe that is mine," He remarked, while taking his gun, and putting it into his shoulder holster. "Thank you very much, Mrs. Kästner, it's nice to have it back so quickly."

"Indeed. And, as promised by His Majesty, your Royal Cross for your service to our country." Celina then opened the ornate decorative box and showed the cross: a golden cross, much like the Cross for Honor of Valor before it; however, it was differentiated by the smaller silver cross within its center, and in the center of that cross, the Royal Crest of the Hohenzollern family. Beneath the cross itself, was a ribbon pin for service uniform, colored in Prussian black and white, like the ribbon that held the cross. Miss Kästner extended the display case to Inspector Karaca and began.

"By the power vested in me by His Imperial & Royal Majesty, Georg Friedrich IV, Emperor of the German Realm, King of Prussia, I bequeath to you the Royal Cross; You are awarded this high honor for your gallantry and valor in the face of knowing the consequences of what could happen if the situation with the Embassy had turned for the worst, your service to the German State & Police, and in preventing a global conflict with your actions on that day. His Majesty thanks you kindly for your service, and you will always be welcomed with honor to the German Realm, and with open arms to the court of His Imperial & Royal Majesty." After shutting the case, she handed the cross over to the Inspector in a gentle, almost too-soft-to-touch manner, and gave her thanks, once again, for his service before leaving.

The inspector watched her leave, dumbstruck by the, in his view, totally pointless show of pomp and ceremony for actions that he considered to be standard behaviour for a police officer. After taking a moment to stare at the box, he shrugged, pocketed it, and hailed a taxi, so that he could pick up his belongings from his hotel and head back to Turkey for a rest.
