Please accept my late congratulations to you and your government on your election to be the new government of Canada. Your country is one of America's two closest neighbors and, historically, one of my country's closest allies. I hope that we can continue to have a very close working relationship. I hope that you will allow William Stewart to continue to be the United States Ambassador to Canada and run the American embassy in Ottawa. I can personally vouch for Ambassador Stewart's credentials. If you accept, I know that he would be more than happy to discuss the finer details of your request for the procurement of military equipment - he has been fully briefed on what equipment the Pentagon has white-listed Canada for. In addition to that, there are some matters of joint cooperation that he would like to present to your government.
