President Étienne Tshisekedi

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has finished its transition following the Second Congo War, with power being officially granted to Étienne Tshisekedi, leader of the most popular political movement. A party that urges change, industry, and economic growth, the current leadership is a Unitary Presidential Republic focused on Social Democracy, Populism, and Economic Development.

Sometimes described by supporters as the Congo's 'Father of Democracy', Étienne Tshisekedi has been moving through Congolese politics since the nation's independence from Belgium. He is known for his firm stance against the dictatorships following Lumumba's assassination, and upon officially being elected to the Presidency in 2004 has pushed for the demobilization of child soldiers, the national focus on infrastructure, and the support of government business grants to ensure minimal foreign influence.

The Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is elected by province - each administrative division elects four senators, while the capital of Kinshasa elects eight.
