Honourable Prime Minister,
With due respect and the warm regards of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Yi Won of the Korean Empire, the Imperial Chancellery of Trade formally extends an invitation to the United Kingdom to enter into negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement.
Following the unification of the Korean Peninsula and the rapid economic revitalization spearheaded by our government, the Korean Empire is seeking strategic trade partnerships with prominent global economies. The United Kingdom, as a pillar of international commerce and diplomacy, stands as a natural and highly respected partner in this endeavor.
The proposed agreement would aim to:
- Establish a mutual framework for investment protection and dispute resolution.
- Promote cooperation in sectors such as technology, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and energy.
- Enable smoother exchange of goods and services, with customs efficiency improvements.
- Encourage academic and technological exchanges through joint industrial R&D initiatives.
We believe this agreement would not only strengthen economic ties between our nations but also reaffirm our shared commitment to prosperity, stability, and peaceful cooperation in the international arena.
We propose to dispatch a delegation to London at Her Majesty’s Government’s earliest convenience, or alternatively, would be pleased to host a British delegation in Seoul to begin preliminary discussions.
The Korean Empire eagerly anticipates your favorable reply and looks forward to fostering a prosperous relationship between our peoples.
With the utmost respect and sincerity,
Kim Hyun-chong
Minister of Trade
Korean Empire
