A Coup Attempt by leaders of the Madagascan Armed Forces has succeeded in toppling the democratically elected government of Madagascar. Military Officials name successor as "King" Andre I.

In the streets of Madascar up and down the country armed soldiers and police officers have seized control and enforced strict curfews on residents. The troops appear to be from the 1st Divison of the Madagascar Army. They say up to 100 people have been arrested as part of an ongoing "Security Operation"

Indeed, the previous President had been under pressure from the population due to a corruption scandal in which the President is said to have paid off a number of prostitutes in an attempt to silence them as well as repeated reports of siphoning of public funds. It is unknown if this is connected with the ongoing military presence.

Top high ranking officials have stated that King Andre will now resume his position as Monarch of Madagascar, who reports is a Captain within the Army. When approached, King Andre told reporters that.

"The people of Madagascar have spoken and it is clear that change is required by the people of this island. As such, it is my privilege and duty to serve the people in our quest to rebuild our nation from the relics of French imperialism.

Bernard Samuel Randrianantenaina the conservative party leader has officially been sworn in at Iavoloha Palace by King Andre. Bernard Samuel will now take over the role of running Madagascar's day to day business and will nominate cabinet members from within the national Assembly.​

The King of Madagascar, King Andre I has officially declared his time as monarch to be over. A new constitution has officially been approved by the Parliament of Madagascar.

Prime Minister Bernard Samuel will adopt the role of first President of Madagascar under these changes. He will serve a further two years before seeking reelection in 2016. A parliamentary election will be called immediately to fill the newly created seats in the senate.

The results of the legislative election of Madagascar have been officially announced. The introduction of the first past the post method and the removal of propotional representation in 2 seat constituency lists has seen a routing of the 3rd parties within both houses. The surge in support for the opposition will make President Samuels term much more difficult to pass key legislation.
