The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Health is the Ministry of the New Zealand Government that handles all fire-fighting, by way of the New Zealand Fire Commision, and deals with citizenship, passports, censorship and gambling laws, holding the census, and the management of foreign dignities travelling to New Zealand.
The current Minister for Internal Affairs and Health is the Hon. George Hawkins.

New Zealand Fire Service is the only firefighting body in New Zealand.
Fire trucks: Type 1 pump truck, Type 2 rescue and pump truck, Type 3 pump and ladder, Type 4 heavy pump and ladder, Type 5 ladder
Other vehicles: Light Response Vehicle (van), command and hazardous materials tender (large van)
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Health outsources ambulance and paramedic duties to Saint John Ambulance for the whole of New Zealand apart from the Wellington area, which is serviced by Wellington Free Ambulance.
