The NZIS is a department of the Prime Minister's Office that directly collects and passes on intelligence of all types to the Parliment and NZDF. It is comprised of the Information Intelligence Bureau (ex-GCSB), which is charged with SIGINT, ELINT, COMINT and the counter- of these; the Collection Intelligence Bureau (ex-NZSIS), which is charged with HUMINT, SATINT and counter-HUMINT; and the Foreign Assessment Bureau, which is charged with analysing the information collected by the IIB and CIB.
