Background:​

With tensions growing within the Middle East and around the Mediterranean, the Polish Ministry of National Defense, Office of State Protection, and the Council of Ministers have decided that Poland will require eyes on the developing situation to better understand the current workings of political situation. This has led to the formation of Operation Watchtower which had originally been designed to be a joint operation between Poland and Thailand.

Objectives:​

1. Observe and Report SIGINT and ILINT information from Israel and Turkey during Operational times
2. Infiltrate Israeli and Turkish space utilizing POSP operatives flying in from allied nations
3. Continue to monitor the situation from SIGINT ships while also hosting a training exercise for attached Amphibious Assault Ship, Frigates and special operations soldiers
4. Assist in the extraction of any Christians and Catholics within Turkey that wish to be relocated
5. Recover Operatives from Friendly Nations or assist in exfiltration if operatives are detected

Deployment
After the Council of Ministers meeting and a talk with the Office of State Protection and the Ministry of National Defense advising the King to gather intelligence on the rising tensions within the region, it was decided to send a task force to examine the situation while assisting refugees from the Ottoman Empire. While Poland is not considered a world power, this is the first step in making the world realize that Poland is a sitting member of the world power board and can easily deploy forces worldwide. After careful consideration, until the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship purchased from the United States was finished, the 1st Flotilla would be assigned to the OKP Huragon and four other ships from the 3rd Flotilla to undertake the journey from Poland to the Mediterranean Sea.

Komandor Anatol Pruszkowski, commander of the OKP Huragon, who would be leading the Task Force was issued the command to prepare ships for departure and to link up with the Amsterdam-class Replenishment Ship in the Mediterranean.

Deployment
Before departing from their home base in Gdynia-Oksywie, the OKP Nawigator would be assigned a compliment of five POSP agents to act as Intelligence Advisors. Once the POSP personnel and their equipment was loaded onto the ship, the ships would depart from their home ports and head into the Baltic sea, maintaining proper distance from each other to prevent colliding between themselves or with other vessels during the transit into open water. Once within the open water of the Baltic, the ships would maneuver so the two submarines would be submerged at the lead, approximately two miles ahead of the rest of the fleet and two miles apart from each other. The Celestial-class Frigates would form a screen around the OKP Huragon, which would be located at the center of the formation, and the Nawigator-class Reconnaissance ships, the ORP Nawigator would be half a mile in front of the OKP Huragon while the OKP Hydrograf would be half a mile to the rear of the OKP Huragon. Each Celestial-class frigate would maintain a mile distance from the center of the flotilla. The vessels would not exceed the speed of 4 knots that the submerged submarines were travelling at.

The two submarines leading the flotilla would monitor their active radar to assist in transiting the Baltic Sea. They would avoid any obstacle that was below the surface of the water and any obstacle floating on the water. The Celestial-class frigates would monitor their surface and air radar systems to allow them to have full awareness of any ships and aircraft around them within the designated range of the radar systems, The OKP Huragon would operate its radar systems capable of watching 400km range for air targets and 32km for surface targets. The Nawigator-class Reconnaissance ships would monitor signal waves during transit to test their equipment and build an intelligence profile of surrounding nations, and nations they pass. POSP agents on board the OKP Nawigator would document any interesting signal traffic for debriefing by the Office of State Protection.

The Polish Mediterranean Task Force would arrive outside the Strait of Gibraltar, insuring to stay within international waters during the entire transit time. The two leading Sohn-won Yil submarines would cross the Strait first, keeping itself at a depth of 400 feet and maintaining enough distance from each other to insure they would not collide with each other. The submarines would continue to monitor their sonar to insure they would not strike in manmade or natural object as they crossed the Strait. Once the two submarines were across and officially within the Alboran Sea, the leading three Celestial-class frigates would cross the Strait, maintaining 2,000 feet distance from each other as the crossed, once through, the two Celestial-class frigates on the wings would fan out to resume their positions at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock of the OKP Huragon. The three lead Celestials would continue to monitor sonar and radar to detect threats from above and below, while also keeping lookouts on the bridge scanning in all directions to insure they did not collide with any manmade or natural objects.

Nest the OKP Nawigator would cross through the Straight and keep its position at the 12 o'clock of the OKP Huragon while it too crossed through the Strait, flanked on either side by two more Celestial-class frigates operating at 2.000ft from the OKP Huragon. Each of these ships would continue to monitor their own radar and sonar to insure they did not collide with any manmade or natural object during their transit. The remaining three Celestial-class Frigates and the OKP Hydrograf would proceed through the Strait after the Huragon, also maintaining their 2.000ft distance to insure they did not collide. During the transit through the Strait, the OKP Huragon would have a squadron of four PZL W-3W helicopters in the air at all times, each loaded with four Strela-2 air-to-air missiles and their twin 23mm cannons. The four flights of helicopters would operate at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions to insure a proper envelope during the transit.

Once fully through the Strait, the helicopters would continue to operate in the same positions and the same armament, rotating between squadrons to insure that the helicopters and pilots were fully fueled and rested between launches to ensure survivability. Once through the Strait and in the Alboran Sea, the task force would regroup and assume their original spacing as long as international waters. Where unable to maintain the one mile spacing, the ships would close in at a safe speed and lookouts on the deck and bridge to insure they would not strike each other, any other vessel that may be around, or any natural object that may be present within the waters as they travelled.

The taskforce would continue their transit through the Alboran Sea maintaining a speed of four knots so as to not overtake the leading submerged submarines.

The Polish Task Force would spend a few days position at coordinates 33.69841, 25.37732 while the readied themselves for the upcoming intelligence operation outside of Turkey and Israel when a secured message came through. During this readying phase they would regroup with the OKP Baltyk that had refueled and replenished itself within the Port of Said, under their agreement with the Egyptian Government. During this phase they would replenish lost provisions and fuel from the ship that had stored enough stores for a 6 month deployment.

With the confirmation of the flash message the commander of the Task Force would issues orders to the OKP Gwiezdny, OKP Nawigator, OKP Hydrograf and the rest of the fleet regarding the new orders. Sixteen special forces operators from Formoza would be transferred from the OKP Huragon to the OKP Gwiezdny to act as a QRF force for the intelligence operation and the decision that the OKP Orzel would be left to assist in the security of the reconnaissance vessels during the operation. Once each ship was properly situated that Task Force heading towards Hawaii would proceed under a speed of 20 knots, max speed of the submerged submarine, and would maintain its normal pattern of deployment, forming a defensive screen around the OKP Huragon while the moved towards the Suez canal. During their transit they would utilize their sonar and radar to keep an eye on surface contacts and underwater contacts(manmade and natural obstacles). They would carefully avoid each obstacle should they appear and maintain their distance from territorial waters until they reached the Suez canal. From there they would proceed under a speed of 7 knots, careful to avoid obstacles and the embankments on either side.

After the rest of the task force left the area, the three remaining ships would approach Israeli waters, while staying outside of territorial waters, would begin monitoring communication based signals and non-communication base signals. Each ship would carefully watch their fuel to insure they could return to safe harbor at Port Said to refuel their fuel and provisions while conducting the operation. They would carefully record and categorize each intercepted signal from the Israelis and Palestinians while also working on decrypting the signals to garner information from them. While this was ongoing, the POSP agents and Formoza operators would work on a game plan for infiltration and exfiltration from the country of Israel. During this operation each ship was under a communication blackout and unable to send messages out. This was done in order to maintain the secrecy of the mission. Despite this, the OKP Gwiezdny would continue to monitor sonar, surface radar, and aerial radar to ensure that there were no approaching targets. Should they feel they were in danger, the Celestial-class frigate would activate air defense measures while also attempting to communicate with potential enemy. Should they perceive hostile threat, the Celestial-class would not hesitate to take necessary measures to ensure they maintained their safety.

The Celestial-class Cutter and the two Nawigator-class Reconnaissance ships would remain thirteen nautical miles from the Israeli coastline, making sure to stay precisely at least one kilometer outside of the territorial waters of Israel, and within the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea. During this operation, each of the Reconnaissance vessels would continue monitoring all communication and non-communication electronic signals and systems within range of their systems. Utilizing onboard decryption equipment they would work to decrypt any communications while also monitoring civilian communications that existed unencrypted airwaves. All information would be carefully documented and prepared to be sent back to the Ministry of National Defense utilizing secure methods once they were able to without interference. The Celestial-class Frigate would operate its Aerial radar, surface radar, and sonar actively, careful to document military aircraft and military vessels operating near or around Palestine. The ship would also have human lookouts posted around the deck of the ship to watch for smaller craft that may have slipped under the radar or for divers attempting to sabotage the equipment. The five POSP officers onboard the OKP Nawigator would work with the ship's crew to monitor the information and document it while they worked with the JW Formoza teams regarding the later part of their mission.

Well aware of being a nation surrounded by enemies Israel had long ago shifted to primarily communicating through fixed ground lines. Initially copper and more recently using fiber-optics. Israel had the means to communicate wirelessly but between facilities, bases, border posts and even more longterm command posts it simply made more sense to use the higher bandwidth of the existing lines. Wireless communications served primarily as a back-up if an enemy were to cut the ground lines or to communicate on a more operational level between units and to relay orders from command posts to their units. As a result any intercepted communications would only reveal highly localized operational information that would give very little indication of Israel's larger plans. Even those communications would use an encryption method built on AES-256 that would make decrypting the communications in a timely fashion without the private key close to impossible. Even if decrypted, as the IDF had not yet communicated any attack plans they would only be able to gain information of Israeli forces being positioned along the borders.

With escalations in the area the IDF had expected greater interest from the international community, as such the appearance of multiple foreign ships did not raise any alarms. The exception to this was three ships that were positioned just slightly beyond Israeli territorial waters and had been there for multiple days with close to no movement. Due to AIS the ships were quickly identified as being Polish, a country not openly hostile to Israel. The decision was made to initiate a measured response; the La Fayette Class INS David Ben-Gurion was tasked to depart from Haifa and approach the Polish within three nautical miles, once in place the Israeli Air Force launched fwo Mirage 2000 5Fs and a Rafale to approach to the same distance and circle the David Ben-Gurion from there. Once the ship and aircraft in place the David Ben-Gurion would open communications on Channel 16 VHF, the International Distress frequency, "Polish Ships this is the INS David Ben-Gurion, we have recorded your position and lack of movement in the last several days. Are you experiencing an emergency?". The goal here was clear, show the Polish they knew they were there without being threatening and inviting further Polish interference.

The CIC of the the OKP Gwiezdny would track the launch of the two Mirage 2000 5Fs and the single Rafale and during their journey through the active use of their aerial radar systems. While their weapons remained passively powered, firing solutions had been calculated should they detect a radar lock from the aircraft on any of the ships in the small task force. The surface radar would monitor the David Ben-Gurion during its transit towards them as well, again forming firing solutions should an attack be anticipated while keeping their weapons systems in a passive state of power.

"INS David-Ben-Gurion this is OKP Gwiezdny of the Royal Polish Navy. We are currently performing a legal military exercise in international waters. We are operating in due regard as required by international law. We appreciate your response to check on our state of being and commend you for your actions towards maritime safety. Over."

The goal of the Israeli ship was easily figured out, yet they had made no effort to hide their location from the Israeli's during their time stationed near the territorial waters. With active use of their radar and sonar, as well as keeping their AIS active. They were certain the Israeli's knew they were there to monitor the growing situation between Israel and Palestine. As of the current moment the Polish ships offered no aggression towards the Israeli ship or aircraft.

"OKP Gwiezdny, understood. Please continue taking care that your exercise does not cross into territorial waters. Good luck. INS David Ben-Gurion Out." The David Ben-Gurion would finally respond before concluding communications again.

With the exchange the IN's goals had been achieved, after all a small Polish monitoring force was just about the smallest possible threat. The aircraft would be left circling the David Ben-Gurion until their fuel supplies meant they had to return to base. The INS David Ben-Gurion was ordered to shadow the Polish ships. Weapons were kept on standby and targeting solutions were made but weapons were not activated in any detectable way. The ship carried enough fuel to be able to continue for weeks and would return to base whenever supplies became low enough to require refueling and resupply. The INS Keshet, also part of the Mediterranean Fleet would take the David Ben-Gurion's place whenever the latter had to return to base. Specifically the Israeli Navy would monitor for any aircraft launched from the ships heading for Israeli or Palestinian territory in case the Polish aimed to send supplies to Palestine or to insert spies or special forces into Israel. The PIBA and Israeli embassies in other countries received an instruction to screen Polish visa requests more extensively for the time being.

The Celestial-class ship would keep its weapon systems offline but would maintain their weapon solutions on the the INS David Ben-Gurion while keeping their weapon systems passively active. This was done in order to maintain the security of the task force during the operation near the waters. The CIC team would be sure to take detailed analysis of the INS David Ben-Gurion as well as take underwater recordings utilizing the OKP Hydrograf's equipment to better prepare Polish submarines and enable them to be able to identify foreign vessels by their sounds.

Onboard the OKP Nawigator and the Hydrograf, the communications specialists would continue to monitor the airwaves flowing between Palestine and Israel. Regardless of what information was gained, they utilized this as a training exercise of sorts to keep their skills up to date.

During the next few days, the sixteen man special operations team would perform various exercises onboard the OKP Gwiezdny. Including a simulated ship boarding exercise where they would maneuver through the ship with their rifles unloaded to be more familiar with ship based activities. They would also perform live fire training exercises utilizing the flight deck of the OKP Gwiezdny and floating objects tethered to the ship to act as boats. They were careful to not expend all of their ammunition to insure they had enough to maintain security.

This location was chosen for its strategic significance and accessibility to key regional areas. The base housed the Tatvan/Bitli Division, a formidable force of 8,500 Republic Thai Army personnel. These troops were not only strong and well-versed in military tactics but also one of the most well-equipped units in the region. Their experience was garnered from diverse operational environments, making them uniquely adaptable.

Each soldier in the division was equipped with advanced personal gear, optimized for the challenging Middle Eastern terrain and climate. The division's arsenal included state-of-the-art weaponry and defense systems, and they had access to cutting-edge intelligence and communication technology. This technological edge, combined with rigorous, scenario-based training exercises, ensured that the Tatvan/Bitli Division was prepared for a wide range of operational contingencies. Furthermore, the base itself was fortified with robust security measures and had a fully operational logistics and support system to maintain the division's peak readiness.

The Tatvan/Bitlis Long Range Reconnaissance Company, renowned for its exceptional intelligence capabilities in the Middle East and often compared to the Mossad of Israel, had a critical mission. In the past, they had been alerted to the presence of three unidentified ships stationed just beyond the territorial waters of Israel. These vessels were visible from the coastal highlands and even from taller buildings along the Israeli horizon.

The unit, consisting of 150 elite personnel, was designated for deployment in Meydan, a strategically important southern area of Turkey. They were enhanced by 5 × IAI Searcher Mk 3 drones, known for their advanced surveillance capabilities. Additionally, they had at their disposal 20 × GAZ Vodnik vehicles, each outfitted with a formidable combination of 1 × 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine gun and 1 × 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, ensuring they were well-armed for any confrontations.

Their logistical needs, including transportation and other support requirements, were meticulously managed by the Tatvan/Bitlis Service Support Regiment. This regiment, comprising 900 elite personnel, operated 135 × GAZ Sadko vehicles, ensuring the seamless movement and supply of the reconnaissance unit. This strategic arrangement underscored their readiness and capability to respond swiftly and effectively to any emerging threats or situations in the region.

Upon arriving at Meydan, after thorough consultations with local authorities and the Turkish Government, the team meticulously selected a location for their base of operations, ensuring minimal disruption to civilian life. They efficiently established a Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Meydan, leveraging the expertise of the Tatvan/Bitlis Service Support Regiment. The Thai Army Personnel, particularly the Tatvan/Bitlis Long-Range Reconnaissance Company, represented some of the most skilled and formidable units within the Thai Army. Their intensive training regimen, extending over 32 weeks, was specifically tailored to equip them for operations in the Middle East, marking them as a unique foreign military presence in the region.

Each member of this elite unit had reached an exceptional level of physical health and mental acuity, ensuring they were well-rested, well-versed in regional specifics, and mentally sound throughout the operation. Their preparation extended beyond personal readiness; their equipment, too, was maintained meticulously by the service support regiment. This rigorous maintenance ensured that every piece of gear and machinery was in peak operational condition, capable of performing flawlessly in the harsh environments they were likely to encounter. This combination of elite training, strategic foresight, and equipment readiness positioned them as a highly efficient force, prepared for any challenges they might face during their deployment in Meydan.

Upon completion of their preparations, the Tatvan/Bitlis Long Range Reconnaissance Company meticulously deployed 3 of their IAI Searcher II Mk 3 UAVs at exactly 1200 local time. These UAVs, boasting an operational range of 350 kilometers and an impressive 20-hour endurance capability, were programmed to precisely navigate to the coordinates 33.0562141, 34.6946711. During their flight, they meticulously adhered to a strict operational protocol, ensuring they did not encroach upon the territorial waters or airspace of any nation, with the sole exception of Turkey.

If any of their pre-determined positions, including their designated coordination point, fell outside the bounds of international waters, the UAVs were equipped with advanced navigational systems that would automatically redirect them to remain within international jurisdiction. They would maintain a consistent cruising speed of 200 km/hr, soaring at an altitude of 20,000 feet, strategically chosen to optimize both the range and the resolution of their reconnaissance capabilities. This operational altitude also served to minimize the likelihood of detection or interference by other parties.

With the aerial radar being actively used, it did not take much time for the AN/SPS-75 radar to pick-up the IAI Searcher Mk 3 UAVs and begin automatically tracking them. The crew monitoring the situation would notify their superior of the three pings on the radar, the airspeed of the aircraft, and approximate size of the target. It was too small to be a civilian airline or conventional civilian plane, especially one operating so far from the coastline and in the direction towards international waters and away from any land mass. Therefore target solutions were formed, though their guns remained inactive. The CIC would continue to monitor the aircrafts until they noticed a sudden decrease in altitude. With the three hundred and fifty kilometer range of the IAI Searchers, having reached that point almost a kilometer earlier, would begin to descend into the waves below, and international waters. The CIC would track the descent of the aircraft, and any changes in direction during the flight. They would calculate the approximate location of impact based off of airspeed and altitude before the two RHIBs would be lowered from the Celestial-class ship, loaded with two six man teams of the Formoza unit stationed on board the ship. They were wearing their standard combat loadout, as well as a flotation device worn on their body should they fall off the RHIBs during their transit. Each member had a locator beacon that was currently switched off but could be switched on easily should they require assistance from the ship. Each RHIB carried an encrypted long-range radio to allow the boat to communicate with their mother ship as well as a loaded 12.7mm machine gun at the front of the boat. For emergency supplies, each RHIB carried emergency rations as well as large number of medical supplies as well as ropes to act as a tie off should they need to dock in a port. Once the RHIBs were in the water, the engines would be started and move away from the ship at a safe speed before turning the throttle up, once at a safe distance from each of the ships, and begin moving towards the approximate crash location of the aircraft at a speed of 32 knots, much faster than any of the larger vessels behind them. The RHIBs would utilize the onboard sea navigation system to insure they maintained their distance from the territorial waters of Israel, as well as any other nation they approached. With a range of 370km, they were more than capable of reaching wherever the landing happened, which shouldn't be too far from their current position due to the lack of fuel and control of the aircraft with no power.

The three Polish ships would begin their navigation towards the location deemed to be the location of crash, which would continual be updated by the CIC and the information would be relayed via encrypted channel to the RHIB teams to better keep them informed. They were unsure of the nature of the aircraft but they were certainly responsible if it was a manned civilian aircraft and would move at haste towards the spot. All three ships would maintain their distance from the territorial waters of Israel, and any other nation they approached. The surface radar would continually monitor the INS David Ben-Gurion to see if they would pursue the aircraft as well.

The two RHIBs carrying the twelve special forces operators would arrive at the location of the crash site not long after the three UAVs impacted the ocean. While they had indeed impacted the ocean at a high rate of speed and had a subsequent release of energy that could have been the result of an explosion, that did not stop the special forces operators from salvaging whatever debris they could from the crash sites. Pieces of the wreckage would be salvaged from the ocean and piled into the floor of their RHIBs, careful to not damage the boat, while the pilot insured they did not cross into the territorial waters of Israel, or any other nation they may be near. Anything that could be used to identify the UAVs or the owner of the UAVs would be carefully recorded via camera until the Polish ships, and presumably the Israeli, arrived on location. As soon as the Israeli ships arrived on site, the RHIBs would return to the Celestial-class Frigate they launched from. Once the RHIBs were safely on board, the ships would move further away from the territorial waters of Israel, approximately 32.84202, 32.88185 where they would perform an extensive diagnostic of the debris and more careful recording of the salvage under the cover of the helicopter hangar on board.

Despite the procurement of large debris from the crashed UAVs, the teams onboard the Celestial-class Frigate would be able to determine that the UAVs had been loaded with some sort of explosive due to the nature of the damage and obvious explosive damage done to the debris. They would safely store the debris into airtight containers utilized to store spare equipment to allow their techs back at the Institute of Research and Implementation to determine the nature of the explosive, as determined by chemical composition, as well as possible origins of the explosive. During this time POSP agents would begin investigating one of the largest leaks of military information by a foreign power to date, utilizing the documents faxed over and the tag line attached to the document, forces would conclude that it was Thailand who publicly released such information.

The three Polish ships would maneuver themselves towards Port Said to restock and refuel before heading back to Polish territorial waters. They would carefully monitor all sonar, aerial radar, and surface radar to avoid collisions with surface and subsurface obstacles. Once within range of Port Said, they would cooperate with port authority to begin docking procedures.

With a range of 900km the IAI Searcher 2 UAV was picked up by the Super Green Pine radar from the moment it ascended. As the UAV was originally developed by Israel and the IDF had more than enough data on its specifics and in this case more importantly, radar signature, it would be identified as an IAI Searcher 2 by the computer system almost immediately. At this time however, as the drone was not within the warning zone for UAVs due to its distance from Israel, the detection would not be reported to the human RADAR operators. This changed when the drone reached international waters west of Lebanon, at which point the radar of the INS David Ben-Gurion would pick it up too. As Israel knew very well to which countries it had sold the drone, and as only one of those countries had a base in Turkey, or for that matter anywhere in the Middle East, it would be identified as a Thai UAV almost immediately by the human Super Green Pine radar operators. This data was relayed to the INS David Ben-Gurion and the Mirages still in the area at that point. Orders were relayed to the ship and the three fighters to prepare targeting solutions but to not engage the drone until it entered Israeli airspace. Until that time they were to continue monitoring it. When the UAV crashed into the water first of all the General Staff very quickly verified with the David Ben-Gurion and the fighters that they had not engaged it. After all 4 confirmed that not a single shot had been fired by them, or for that matter the Polish vessels, some calm returned to the General Staff. By the time an order had been issued to try and salvage parts, the Polish were already well on their way and it was determined that they had no realistic way of getting there before them. Once that information was communicated back to the General Staff, they would issue new orders and give the Captain of the David Ben-Gurion permission to contact the Polish while recalling the fighters (which at this point could only continue for another hour anyway before they had to turn back due to their fuel supplies.

With new orders in hand the Captain of the David Ben-Gurion, Ester Shaked, would once again open communications on Channel 16 VHF. "OKP Gwiezdny, this is the INS David Ben-Gurion, we have determined that you have launched an operation to salvage the remains of the UAV that crashed into the sea. The General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces have given me permission to contact you and propose cooperation. We have determined that the UAV was originally of Israeli design and could only have been used by two countries within range to launch it. We also have information about the precise launch location. With your ownership of the remains, and our knowledge of the aircraft's design and classified features we believe a joint investigation will be much more effective."
