PROJECT INFORMATION | The United States Light House Service would allocate $2.5-million to the restoration and preservation of Race Point Light located at the tip of Cape Cod. Special measures were taken to restore the fourth-order Fresnel lens in the lighthouse, and also to restore the tower and keeper's quarters. The keeper's quarters were specifically updated with electricity, plumbing, and other much-needed modern amenities for keepers and their families. A system of solar panels would be installed to generate power for the lighthouse, and a secondary backup of a small wind turbine would also be installed nearby. On top of the lighthouse a lightning rod was installed as well. A flagpole would be erected to fly the flag of the United States, as well as the pennant of the United States Light House Service. |
