"Working as a team goes both ways, you've made demands, tried to blackmail us, ignored the collective and repeatedly try to say we're missing the point. That isn't very teamwork like, no? You don't seem to understand it from our point of view, there are more in this coalition then just Australia. Despite us all objecting against military action in Saudi Arabia, you went anyway. We've all advised that this isn't of our interest or goal but you wanted to go at it alone. You seemed confident previously but now are threating to leave if we don't move forces from what we've said is our priority to assist you?

You've shown no interest in working with us all as a team, but rather throw demands around and expect us to abide. Especially when the rest of the coalition is also fighting Turkey... in Turkey. Diverting resources to Saudi is not something the UK could offer when our front is Turkey."

"This isn't about us or helping us, we're not currently in a position where we're threatened. It's about defending Israel and the broader security of the Middle East region. As I said, we can withdraw at any time from this conflict and leave it up to you. This is about Turkish Forces being in Saudi Arabia and the result of that further complicating things for the Coalition. If you don't want to take that seriously, that's fine. However, we won't be fighting them in Saudi Arabia without Coalition support. That's just the fact of the matter being we don't have the operational capabilities to do so. Seeing as we're no longer bothering with Saudi Arabia... or rather Turkish forces in Saudi Arabia, what targets would you like us to focus on in Turkey?"

"Excuse me gentlemen," Vice Admiral Osborne said. "I just received word from Vice Admiral Irving aboard the USS Nimitz. He said that two submarines just surfaced and surrendered to our fleet," he said. A Marine Corps officer knocked and then entered the room and handed over another piece of paper to Osborne. He read over it, and then read it aloud.

"Former Turkish President Mesut Yilmaz has just addressed the nation. He claims that the current Turkish President has been found and arrested, that he is the acting President of Turkey, and he has ordered all Turkish armed forces to stand down... We're of course going to need to get some confirmation on this.. From our sources, though, this appears to be legitimate..."

"I guess it is time to start planning for post-war Turkey, what do we want to do with Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Do we send in an occupying force? Do we will instill pro-west governments? What are peoples thoughts on what should happen?"

"The objective of this coalition was also to preserve internationally recognised geographic borders and to breakdown the regime in Turkey which saw to war crimes, various violations of other international law and the unpredictable violence emanating from such administration. If the information being received is reliable, then we have evidently succeeded in our mission and I do not foresee any reason for prolonged coalition presence in Turkey since the threat has been neutralised. The same stands for Saudi Arabia whom I understand has been stagnant for a number of months anyway.

The next steps for this coalition, in our mind, is clear: we see to the installation of this new government according to international law without political exercise potentially damaging the course of democracy before a full and complete withdrawal of foreign materiel of any calibre, civilian or military, sent as a result of this war. I think it is absolutely imperative that Turkey is allowed the space to rebuild itself under new rule, without interference.

I would suggest that any gained intelligence which identifies Turkey as a credible threat once again results in this coalition reconvening in a purely diplomatic capacity to identify the next appropriate steps."

"The surrender of the Turkish Government comes as a surprise, but a fortunate one that has hopefully seen the ending of the conflict following a successful air campaign. I believe the coalition should oversee the freeing of anyone that was detained by the Turkish Government such as the Jews and ensure a free election takes place prior to withdrawing and allowing the focus of the Turkish people to be on re-building and re-establishing themselves. Somewhat echoing what has already been said. The UK will be putting minimal forces on the ground to support this transition. We will be keeping RAF Akrotiri open to the coalition to support this new phase of the operation in Turkey. I would suggest we aim to have this wrapped up by the middle of April at the latest. I think we can all agree that this conflict is something that we are happy to see the end of. We will be carrying our combat air patrols as a precaution until a new government is in place and begin a slow drawback.

There will still be a forward presence at our bases in Cyprus for, what I imagine is months or years to come as a safe guard. I'm concerned about Cyprus given this situation and it's unmanned buffer zone which I will be suggesting to my government to raise a case with the Global Assembly to put peacekeepers back there to ensure there is no fall out from the whole situation, just to make you all aware."

"I concur with our British colleague. We will make internal deployments into Turkey to ensure that the oppressed groups are freed and so that we can bring humanitarian aid and open communications to the country. We will also be sending troops to Ankara. We wish to ensure that the Turkish people have their democratic government restored through fair and open elections. I recommend that the United Coalition has officials in place to watch over the election. However, if need be, we will oversee this process alone. Once this occurs and the Turkish economy is stable enough to at least ensure power and food is easily distributed to the Turkish people in effected places, we plan to withdraw. The United States has no plans to permanently occupy Turkey," Vice Admiral Osborne said.

"In regards to Cyprus, the United States will be willing to assist Britain in protecting the southern Cyprus from the puppet government in the north. I cannot speak for the United States government, but I imagine that would support that effort in the Global Assembly," he said.

"We should be looking at seizing and destroying weapons of mass destruction, the ballistic missiles that Turkey owns and also look to see some demilitarisation of Turkey. We don't want them to suddenly turn around and change their minds once we've left. We want to ensure that there's long-term peace and stability in the Middle East. We will be willing to deploy a couple of battalions worth to Turkey to ensure Coalition goals are met on the ground, but we will now begin a drawdown of naval and air forces from the region."

"Our troops will be departing in the next few hours and will be landing in Ankara, hopefully in support of the American and other coalition troops intending to have a presence there whilst elections take place.
A QRF will also be established in case any deployed forces encounter any problems.
Special Forces are also been deployed to release the oppressed groups if my American counterparts are happy with the UKSF attaching to US battle groups?"

"British Special Forces are of course free to travel with Battle Group Gold. We have room to transport them ourselves, if necessary. We'll get in touch with the Royal Navy so that different options are presented," he said. Vice Admiral Osborne looked over some classified paperwork regarding Battle Group Gold and Taske Force 101.

"President Gore is going to deliver a speech regarding the war... I've been told that our Ambassador to the Global Assembly is going to make a new proposal regarding the international sale of arms, but I don't know all of the details. We're not politicians, of course," he said with a small smile.

"In regards to the oppressed groups, we've granted all of them provisional humanitarian visas and have accomodation space in our immigration detention centres and national quarantine facilities to house these people temporarily whilst we integrate them into the Australian community. Australian officials will be arriving in Turkey soon to re-establish the Embassy in Ankara and Consulate-General in Istanbul, they will be setting up desks at the main international airports to process those people we have granted provisional humanitarian visas to. If you could get the commanders to get in touch with them when you managed to free these people, that would be greatly appreciated."

"Given that it appears the British and American forces have an established plan for peacekeeping in Turkey alongside the retention of a sustained border protection task force in and around Cyprus we would like to offer services in some capacity. Whilst it goes without saying that our deployment will be scaled back substantially now the war has ended, we will retain a naval task force within the Mediterranean Sea which should give the coalition some intelligence gathering and quick reaction capability on the surface for the foreseeable; I intent to inform Stockholm that such a task force will remain in situ until we receive confirmation from the rest of the coalition that any threat or risk has subsided and will see our complete withdrawal from the region in conjunction with other forces involved.

We arrived together, and I think it will show great strength and cooperation if we withdraw together."

Vice Admiral Osborne nodded to his Swedish colleague and folded his hands. "I'm very happy to hear that. I agree that we should all withdraw together. My government believes that it's going to mean a lot to the rest of the world once we finally finish the last part of this mission. We're going to restore Turkey's government and leave in peace. We can only hope that this will bring some good will to the West. I can confirm that a Battle Group is on the way to Turkey to bring troops to Turkey. When the time comes to it, I hope that the Swedish would be willing to send observers for the Turkish elections. I've been told that is something my government would be in favor of, but of course that's ultimately up to your parliament," he said in conclusion.

"So does anyone have any information about the captivity of the oppressed peoples? Whereabouts? Their condition? Has anybody managed to reach them? At the moment this is Australia's only concern; the humanitarian side of it. Our Defence Forces are being tied up in Asia at the moment so unfortunately there won't be anymore Australian forces deployed to the Middle East unless it's in the form of the Air Force doing an air lift. We want to send Australian Federal Police into Turkey to conduct investigations into allegations of genocide. We have 50 officers in the AFP's Europe, Middle East and Africa Branch based at the Australian High Commission in London. They will be ready to take flights to Turkey when they know where to go."
