Following discussions between President Sinclair and President Valérian, the White House has directed me to inform you that President Sinclair has nominated Gabriel Louis Fontenot, Esq. as the United States Ambassador to France. Mr. Fontenot is currently the Attorney General of the State of Louisiana and, of course, is fluent in French. In addition to serving as the Attorney General and an attorney in the Louisiana legal system, Mr. Fontenot is also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

If President Valérian approves his appointment, we will see to the immediate dispatch of he, his family, and State Department staff to France.​

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your communication regarding the nomination by President Sinclair of Mr. Gabriel Louis Fontenot, Esq., as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the French Republic.

I have the pleasure, on behalf of Government of the French Republic, to convey that His Excellency President Valérian gives his full approval to the appointment of Mr. Fontenot as Ambassador.

I respectfully take note of Mr. Fontenot’s distinguished service, and believe his fluency in the French language will undoubtedly further contribute to the strengthening of the historic friendship and close cooperation between the French Republic and the United States of America.
