Greetings,

Previously we discussed research projects and upgrade projects. I am writing to inform you that we are sending two research teams to Argentina in order to work out the details for each project. Six experts from Aircraft Repairing Company A-41 and six experts from Damen Song Cam Shipyard. The A-41 experts will discuss with you the Su-47 Berkut project that we wish to enter into. It should be noted ahead of time Russia has given us permission to use their technology for the project. However I believe the use of Argentinian equipment will prove the best option, as well as the creation of derivatives for components. We will be sending one of our Kirov vessels in order to transport the team, as we lack an airliner capable of reaching Argentina. Message back with a reply telling me if this is all good for you.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could send the 767-300ER to pick up the team of researchers and their equipment. Though it should be noted that they do not have much in the way of testing equipment. They will however be bringing their computer equipment as well as the technical details of the Su-47. As we no longer have the use of long range airliner type aircraft we will need to be searching out for one. Would you recommend the 767-300ER aircraft?

The 767-300ER and ints 11,000nm range are for us a strategic asset, as it gives us the ability to reach almost any point in the globe without having to use foreign military bases and require therefore foreign permission. We use it in combination with the Alexandria Naval Base and in that way we can connect Argentine with almost any nation in the world. We highly recommend this aricraft, although you would have to get it directly from the US. To this day we still don't know how that nation allowed us to acquire it, considering its restrictive sales policy.

The aircraft will depart in 2 days and head to Hanoi to pick your teams up.

Yes, it would be most problematic to purchase the aircraft from the Americans. So it may be best for us to seek alternatives at the moment if we wished to have such a range. Also there has been a change. We would like to send a third team of researchers in regards to a minor project. We would like to develop an upgrade package for our current Leopard 1A5 tanks. Simular in nature to the Leopard 1C2 of the Canadians.

The empty Argentine Air Force Boeing 767-300ER would depart from its airbase in El Palomar, near Buenos Aires, and fully fueled head to San Pablo, where it would refuel before flying to Alexandria, where it would again make a technical stopover in order to reach its final destination, Hanoi. Once there it would wait for the vietnamese passengers and cargo.

Surface level spec data on the Ulyanovsk Aircraft Carrier, Kirov-class battlecruiser Admiral Nakhimov Refit, Slava-class cruiser, Buyan-class 21631 corvette, Tarantul-class corvette, Udaloy II-Class Destroyer, Improved Kilo-class submarine, Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier, Sovremennyy-class destroyer, Akula-III (project 971M), Oscar-class submarine, and Type 094 submarine. Going through the government entrance they would be guided by the military unit stationed there. Presenting their identification they would then board the aircraft.

As Vietnam never had the Specifications to bring the "data" with them, no data on Russia. vessels minus the Su-47 would be taken. Seeing as the Boeing 767-300ER doesn't have a range of 11,000 Nautical Miles (NM) it would crash enroute to its destinations, as it would only have a range of 5,980nm.

As Vietnam has operated the listed vessels for some time the Vietnamese have surface level data on them. Knowing weapon systems locations, locations of systems, locations of equipment, and a general layout as all observed on a surface level. This data is simply notes that can be used for developing upgrade packages as Vietnam does not own a percentage of these vessels or a dpr. Surface level spec data is in reference to this and a distinction was made between what Vietnam is able to make and simple has some operational knowledge of.

The Argentine Air Force personnel would be waiting in the aircraft or around it while it was being refuelled and resupplied in order to make the return journey. The flight crew would get some rest in the meantime.

After some hours, the vietnamese tams would present themselves at the airport and approach the parking 767-300ER. Once their identities where checked, they would be allowed to board with no further problems and their equipment would be loaded into the aircraft. Being almost completely empty, the vietnamese would have almost all seats free to choose from. Meal services and snacks would be provided by the Argentine Air Force during the flight.

Once everything was in place and ready, the pilot would request permission to take off to the Hanoi Airport ATC. When granted, iw would take off and follow the reverse route they made to get there, with the change that the last leg, after the stopover in San Pablo, would fly directly to Cordoba, where the HQ of ArgenDef is located.


The 767-300ER, with a max. range of 11,070km, or 5,980nm, and flying on the shortest route, would make the journey with no problem, considering the stated technical stopovers. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_767#767-300ER). All legs are within those distances.

Distance To Alexandria From Sao Paulo is:
6318 miles / 10167.84 km / 5490.19 nautical miles


Distance to Hanoi from Alexandria is 7540km.

The Vietnamese Research Teams would settle in the aircraft picking the seats they liked the best in doing do. After buckling up for take off they would await departure from where they were. The airport ATC in Hanoi would grant the 767-300ER permission to take off. Once in the air safely the three different teams would start conversing with one another about the task ahead. THey would also when able take advantage of the meal service and snacks. As it was going to be a long flight they relaxed, sat back, and prepared themselves. With them in this aircraft and on their way the previously discussed projects could start development soon. Or at least it was hoped that it would go that way. Also as stated since the 767-300ER has a max range of 11,070km and would be taking a route that did not exceed it's limits the aircraft would be fine. Both during its trip to Hanoi as well as its reverse trip, so the researchers were safe and not in any immediate danger.

The aircraft would fly on the indicated route, using the shortest possible trajectory and making the technical stopovers to refuel and resupply. After around 20 hours of flight, including the stopovers, the 767-300ER would touch down at the Cordoba Airport.

Once there, a convoy of vehicles would be awaiting for the passengers and their luggage and equipment. One of the commercial managers of ArgenDef would be at the airport together with an aide, welcoming the vietnamese specialists.

The convoy would go directly to the ArgenDef complex about 3 hours away from the city of Cordoba in Rio Cuarto. The veinamese would be given individual rooms in the lodgings inside the campus and informed that a first introductory meeting was scheduled for next day, giving the asians time to rest and prepare themselves.

Once out of the aircraft they would be met by the ArgenDef commercial manager before being brought to the vehicle convoy. Getting into their assigned vehicles they would buckle in for the 3 hour trip to the ArgenDef complex. Upon arrival and being shown to their rooms and told their first meeting would be the next day they would settle in for the rest of the day and the night. Making sure to get up early in the morning despite their jet lag so that they would not miss the meeting the next day.

The recently constructed offices of the newly created Naval and Aerospace Engineering Bureau (NAEB) would be located on the third floor of the building, on a corner of it. The big glass walls would let the still somewhat of warm autumn sun in, while allowing a clear view of the mountains on the horizon. The room would have a big black wooden table with 12 sets at it, with another back row behind them. A projector and a screen for it where on one side of the room. Coffee and water bottles would be served.

The CEO of ArgenDef would be awaiting for the vietnamese, who would have been picked up at their lodging within the complex in small vehicles for internal use. Participating in the meeting would be the Chief Engineer of the NAEB, plus the Area directors of Naval and Aeronautics and some aides and support staff.

The CEO would do some opening words about ArgenDef, the NAEB and the very good existing commercial relation between Argentina and the SEOUSS, ending with his hopes to make the most out of this new opportunity for both sides.

The meeting would be private, and only the invited people would attend.

The Vietnamese experts from Aircraft Repairing Company A-41, Damen Song Cam Shipyard, and Vinaxuki would sit at the table sitting within their three groups of six. Having gotten up early a great many would take advantage of the provided coffee and water bottles. Settled in and at the table after having arrived they would look to the CEO of ArgenDef as they gave their opening words. The first of the Vietnamese experts to speak up following the opening speech was the Lead from Aircraft Repairing Company A-41.

"I believe I can speak for all of us in saying we are thankful for the opportunity to work here. This relationship will allow for some truly remarkable things I believe." he would say giving some pleasantries before moving on."Moving from that I think it would be for the best if we discuss the Su-47 Berkut project first as well as some other projects that have been proposed. We believe that with the use of radar absorbing materials we can get it's radar cross section down to 0.3 m2 or lower. We also believe that we should swap out various Russian exclusive systems on the aircraft in order to ensure the availability of parts. For us this would mean the replacement of major systems such as the engine, radar, and rear facing radar and thus would need to develop those. For weapon systems this would mean the use of a variety of Argentinian missile systems."

As the talks would move towards more technical aspects, the Lead Aeronautic Engineer would take the protagonism off the CEO.

"Yes, I was briefed about this particular project. In general terms, it's completely doable and actually, we do already produce a variety of systems that could be directly included and adapted to this new design. I'm speaking of the INVAP Buho AESA for primary detection radar and the INVAP AR1 ELINT to support it as secondary detection component. Additionally, the engine issue could be addressed with the INVAP TF-09 or the INVAP TF-11, two engines we use in some of our recent developments. The 09 produces up to 145kn thrust, while the 11 54kn, but they can be combined to operate in twin-engine aircraft.

The rear facing radar would have to be developed, but this should not be a big issue beyond the required time of R&D, which could go along with the time required for the overall development of the upgrade package.


Finally, as for weapon systems, you might already be familiar with our range of missiles, which obviously would be available for this case. You would have to just give us the details of what kind of operations are the primary ones for the Su-47 and we can adapt the electronics to load them. Also, we can also develop custom variants of those systems to meet specific needs of your Air Force. As of now, we have Air-to-Air short/medium and long-range missiles and short and long-range Air to Ground systems."

"I have a few questions in regards to the mentioned equipment. For the engines are they capable of thrust vectoring? As I do not know the dimensions of the engine at this moment how major would modifications to the airframe need to be in order to install either engine? The aircraft was also originally designed with the D-30F11 afterburning powerplant. Each of its twin engines producing 83.4 kN of dry thrust. The forward swept wings may prove a hindrance when it comes to increased thrust. As it may be necessary to structurally reinforce the wings for higher speeds. For the radar, you mentioned what are its specifications? AESA is, of course, a marked advantage over what the Su-47 Berkut was scheduled to have installed. Also for the weapon systems, we noticed that the descriptions on your store page are incorrect, so we were not able to determine which systems would be best used for the aircraft. Now then, we want the Su-47 Berkut to be an extreme maneuverability multi-role air superiority fighter. We want it to be capable of deep penetration operations."

TF-09
The TF-09 is a afterburning turbofan jet engine being developed in a joint venture between the argentine companies INVAP and AMI in order to provide the upcoming air force fighter and strike aircraft program with an efficient, reliable and powerful indigenous engine.

TF-10
The TF-10 is a larger turbofan engine developed by the argentine companies INVAP and AMI to cover the requirement of a more powerful engine to be used in aircraft of larger size, such as transport and passenger crafts.

Each of these two-shaft high-bypass turbofan engines produces a total thrust of 32,500 lbf (144,5 kN).

The turbofan is a type of airbreathing jet engine that is widely used in aircraft propulsion, were the turbo portion refers to a gas turbine engine which achieves mechanical energy from combustion, and the fan, refers to the existence of ducted fan that uses the mechanical energy from the gas turbine to accelerate air rearwards. Thus, whereas all the air taken in by a turbojet passes through the turbine (through the combustion chamber), in a turbofan some of that air bypasses the turbine.

In this particular development, a two-shaft high-bypass turbofan engine is used. This means that low specific thrust is achieved by replacing the multi-stage fan with a single-stage unit. The fan is scaled to achieve the desired net thrust.

The core (or gas generator) of the engine generates sufficient core power to drive the fan at its design flow and pressure ratio. Through improvements in turbine cooling/material technology, a higher HP turbine rotor inlet temperature is used, thus facilitating a smaller (and lighter) core and improving the core thermal efficiency. Reducing the core mass flow tends to increase the load on the LP turbine, so this unit may require additional stages to reduce the average stage loading and to maintain LP turbine efficiency. Reducing core flow also increases bypass ratio.

TF-11

INVAP Buho AESA
The Buho system is a airborne active electronically scanned array (AESA), a type of phased array antenna, that is a computer-controlled array antenna in which the beam of radio waves can be electronically steered to point in different directions without moving the antenna. Developed by INVAP for the Argentine Air Force it is a primary air-to-air radar. It has a maximum range of over 270km on a 360° angle and includes:

CITEFA Punta

It makes use of the experience acquired by the use of the AIM-9 Sidewinder, historically used by the Argentine Air Force and also includes state-of-the-art technology acquired and adapted from the newest russian missiles the AAF currently operates. It is loosely based on the IRIS-T missile, acquired from Germany a time back.

CITEFA Flecha
The Flecha is an active capable of all-weather day-and-night operations radar guided beyond-visual-range Air-to-Air Missile designed and developed by the argentine company CITEFA for the Argentine Air Force to be used for its AF001 light fighter Project. It is essentially a reversed engineered and improved version of the MBDA Meteor missile (acquired from Italy), it boosts almost the same capacities and performance, with slight adaptations and modifications to the needs of the AAF.
It possess Home On Jam (HOJ), Anti-Air All-Aspect, Capable vs Seaskimmer and Level Cruise Flight capacities. Its integrated Active Radar Seeker has a max. range of 9.3 km.

CITEFA Orca
The Orca is a is a long-range fire-and-forget surface-to-surface and air-to-surface, anti-ship missile developed by the argentine company CITEFA for the Argentine Air Force and the Argentine Navy. It was designed using the experience acquired from the operation of the already operational Ar-MOCDES and by reverse engineering some of the russian, chinese and French missiles already operated by Argentina, such as the Exocet. It maintains a very low altitude during ingress, staying one–two m above the sea surface, giving reduced time for CIWS due to late detection.

CITEFA Cormoran
The Cormoran is an anti-ship cruise missile developed by the argentine company CITEFA for the Argentine Air Force and Navy to cover long distance attack needs of aircraft and ships. Among its main characteristics it displays over-the-horizon firing range, fire and forget, low-profile sea-skimming trajectories, high supersonic speed in all phases of flight and full harmonization for a wide range of platforms (surface ships, submarines and land-based launchers). "Based on what I am looking at here it looks like the TF-09 would be the best choice for engines as it requires the least amount of modifications to the airframe. it also saves some weight it looks like, which would allow us to either give the aircraft heavier payloads or a longer range. Though how difficult would it be to implement thrust vectoring?" he would say after having spoken with his team."For the INVAP Buho AESA do you have the dimensions available?
