Your Excellency,

First of all through this message I wish to express our appreciation for the recent return to active involvement in foreign affairs of the Swedish government. As two fellow states that call the European continent our home, and through the recommendations of our shared ally in Thailand I would like to hereby take the first step in building up relations between the French and Swedish states. As we find ourselves increasingly in a world affected by the horrors of terrorism and conflict all over the world, and in particular in our immediate neighbourhood in the Middle East, it is the opinion of my government that likeminded nations should work together.

To properly measure whether and to what extent there is interest in establishing such relations, I would like to offer an invitation for yourself or a member of your government to meet in Paris, or alternatively I could also travel to Stockholm, depending on your preferred meeting place.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope that we may soon begin the process of establishing formal relations.

Dear Prime Minister Lefebvre,

Please allow me to extend my thanks for your correspondence to the Executive Office of the Prime Minister - I must extend my personal apologies for the lack of response from the Prime Minister himself however he is engaged on a diplomatic visit in Asia thus your letter has been forwarded to me. The Prime Minister and I have long held European relations close to our heart, particularly those of significant standing in the political theatre; it is with his permission that I respond to you in his absence.

We have, for some time, found ourselves focussing exclusively on domestic affairs as we see the world around us fall into turmoil. It is the view of the Reinfeldt Administration that we change scope and use our influence for the betterment of society globally, particularly when we hear news from close allies, friends and international partners of financial crisis, armed conflict and tense relationships throughout our international community. Sweden has a long-standing reputation for reasserting peace, something we intend to carry into the coming years with the hope to play a part in the resolution of some of these key matters.

Nonetheless, I would gracious accept your invitation to visit Paris, France in order to discuss the future of the relationship between our two great states, at a time of your earliest convenience.

Could you please confirm as to whether I will need to arrange my own land-based travel once in France? I can arrange for the National Security Office to begin the necessary logistics of bringing a motorcade to Paris if this is necessary.
