Greetings Ismet Qazi,

My name is Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck. I am the new Ambassador here in Islamabad representing the Federal Republic of Germany. Firstly I would like to congratulate you and your Administration on your recent election victory. We think Prime Minister Muhammah Sayyid and his cabinet are well equipped for returning Pakistan to the international stage. In a region that has in the past has seen horrible wars and constant strife, Pakistan has been a beacon of stability. This has been a credit not only to your governments efforts but to the people of Pakistan. The Federal Republic of Germany is looking for a partner in the middle east. Your government has shown determination and poise. Germany would like to work closely with Pakistan on a number of issues such as Trade, Scientific Research, and Human rights. We are also keen on keeping the middle east peaceful. This is going to require eliminating militant groups and stopping them from spreading terror through out the middle east. We want to work hand in hand with your Government on all of these issues. I hope that a strong friendship can form between our two peoples for the benefit of both of our nations as we head into the new millennium.

I do have a few questions if you wouldn't mind thinking them over. What do you see as Pakistan's role in international politics? Do you have any domestic goals your government would like to achieve in its first few years in power? Given historical differences between Pakistan and India, what are your opinions on their newly appointed government?

I hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,
Bernhard Schlagheck

Greetings Ambassador Schlagheck. Allow me to congradulate you on having assumed your position as Germany's newly appointed ambassador to Pakistan, I am confident that our relations will in time lay the foundations for fruitful relations between our two nationstates and the world stage.

That, having been said, the past has not been kind to Pakistan between homegrown authoritarianism, religious fundamentalism, three abortive wars with India, and the process of democratisation; Pakistan finds herself confronted with an existential crisis not unlike the partition which birthed the nation almost 50 years ago as this month. However, our past has made us strong and has given us the determination to carry on inspite of all the misery that comes with Poverty, Nepotism, and so on. In working to combat such societal ills, Pakistan must turn to the west for help and there is little doubt about where Germany stands on all of this, as such we are certainly will to cooperate on matters of education, healthcare, human rights, the arts, scientific research, trade, and national defense to offset the onslaught of barbarism and the flagrant misinterpretation on the part of subversive elements of the teachings of the Holy Prophet and The Quran.

Pakistan's role on the world stage, is generally speaking, to provide the Global Assembly with military personnel and emergency services in helping to combat impoverishment and bring order to those nations facing the prospects of famine and civil unrest in an ever changing world.

As for the intentions of the Sayyid administration there remains two priorities: 1) the socialisation of the economy by placing industry and national commerce into the hands of the Pakistani people with provisions for green energy, free healthcare, public housing, and funding for national infastructure and 2) the reunification of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Bangladesh with Pakistan proper

On the subject of India, Islamabad would like to engage in a dialogue with our neighbors to the east on the subcontinent putting an end to these petty territorial disputes and the inflicting of new no less bitter wounds upon the soul of the nation.

Sincerely,
Ismet Qazi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan

Greetings Again Ismet Qazi,

I appreciate your congratulations on my appointment as Ambassador. I do hope that I can live up to the expectations set by Vice Chancellor Klaus Kinkel and our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They understand the importance of this appointment and to the work I hope we can get started on.

Germany can fully understand being confronted with an existential crisis. Having East and West Germany at odds with ones another for years throughout the cold war has made for a difficult reunion at times. I'm glad to say that through democracy and understanding, the incorporation of East Germany has made us stronger as a whole. Turning this one horrible division into a unifying positive is an example of how a nation can embrace old hardships and build for the future. I do think that Pakistan is on the right path in that regard though. Taking care of a nation of your size with its different religions and ethnic backgrounds will be no small task. I think there are many way in which Germany can lend a hand in that task. One of which is trade.

I would like to discuss the possibility of trade routes between our two nations. We would like to offer all of our exports to Pakistan. We specialize in manufactured goods. We export Motor Vehicles, Machinery, Computer and Electronic Products, Pharmaceuticals, and Medical Instruments. All of these can greatly improve the livelihoods of your citizens. We have a commercial blue water fleet that can handle any sort of trade needs you might need. Our state owned GDE is available should you need any help starting a commercial trade fleet of your own. They have extensive dockyards capable of tailoring a ship for your import or export needs. Could you tell me a bit more about Pakistan's Exports?

One last note about your something in your last communication. You spoke of the reunification of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Bangladesh with Pakistan. I know that Bangladesh is sovereign nation and Jammu and Kashmir have also had rumblings about independence. How do you plan to go about reunification? Something like a national referendum? I'm sure this is going to cause extra tension between Pakistan and India.

Have a wonderful evening.

Regards,
Bernhard Schlagheck
