Iraqi Embassy, Madrid

The Spanish Government had taken the opportunity to deploy police to the Iraqi Embassy in Madrid during the lockdown period to detain any embassy staff and declare them persona non grata. In private, thirty officers from the Madrid Special Security Operational Group would kit up into their operational wear which included their bulletproof vests, helmets and their chosen weapons which was a fully loaded HK G36C and a fully loaded SIG Sauer P226 which they carried three extra magazines for each weapon in pouches on their vest. They also had basic equipment such as radios and cuffs on their person.

They had received a briefing from their commanders and immediately deployed to the embassy to detain anybody who was working or living at the embassy. The same process would occur for any staff that was not at the embassy and was at home. Their information was gathered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when entering the country for their posting.

Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport, Malaga

Twenty soldiers from the 4th Spanish Legion Tercio "Alejandro Farnesio" based out of Ronda which was a short drive from Malaga had arrived to an awaiting C-17 Globemaster which had been recently acquired and was already being used for an active deployment, loadmasters from the Spanish Air Force had been securing cargo on board the aircraft which included soldiers weapons which were HKG36C's and SIG Sauer P226's and extra ammunition for the duration of the operation. Also joining them on the flight were 10 doctors from the 5th Field Hospital Battalion which had been tasked with treating embassy staff if any required treating. The plane was fully fueled and ready for takeoff and took off just after 9:00pm bound for RAF Akrotiri on a routing of IM > JM > KM and would be overhead RAF Akrotiri in just over three hours time - nobody knew of the deployment of Spanish troops to Cyprus apart from the British Prime Minister and American President.

Second Lieutenant Payne nodded in response to the Commander. He turned on his heels and approached an English speaking Belgian in the courtyard. "Muster your civilians, they're being sent home. Also, lay down your weapons" there was a sense of calmness in his voice, he grabbed the radio mouthpiece on his left shoulder, speaking into it. "Take the flags down gentlemen, lay down your weapons." The men, upon receiving this message, begin systematically placing their weapons on the ground. Two of the men that were on the roof would stand up and head to the two flag poles that were situated there, they would first take the American flag down and begin folding it ceremonially, before doing the same with the Belgian flag. They would be folded into triangles and held tightly to the chests of the men, a white flag would be raised above the embassy.

The American staff began to leave the embassy as they mustered in the courtyard, along with the Marines. 2Lt Payne headed over to the gate and unlocked it, as he opened it for the commander - he raised his hand up to his head to salute. It was a form of mutual respect for officers of opposing sides to salute each other. If the commander returned the salute, he would lower his hand to the side. Drawing his M9 pistol from the holster and handing it over to the Iraqi officer.

"Captain on the bridge" was shouted as Captain Alan Gemmill stepped onto the bridge of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. All of those on the bridge turned and saluted him, a salute which he returned. He took a seat in his Captains chair, looking out to the open see infront of them. They had already been dragged out of port by the tugs. "O.O.D, come to course zero-two-five."

"O.O.D aye, Helmsman come to course zero-two-five"

"Helmsman aye, coming to course zero-two-five" The helmsman would begin shifting the wheel to turn the ship to the bearing given, a message would be relayed amongst all of the other ships to follow suit.

The ships would continue along this route, making the odd change to avoid shipping lanes and islands, going along the route FM>GM>HM>IM>JM>KM and would take 55 hours to get there.

The following document was forwarded to the President of Iraq, it was also forwarded to the United Kingdom (@Jamie), The Netherlands (@Dutchy) and the Kingdom of Spain (@Zak)

The English speaking Belgian would take heed and respond accordingly: "As you wish, Second Lieutnant, proceeding to gather civilians asap." In the Embassy Courtyard, small groups of Belgian citizens would crowd around with many carrying their suitcases in a state of shock as the national colours were haulled down and replaced by a plain white flag symbolising capitulation to the host. The security guards soon came to terms with events on the ground, if anything this they figured was the closest thing to a god sent - now to fly home.

"FA-61 Actual, this is FA-61-2, I have a spike at my 10 o'clock, possible bogeys inbound. Over."

"FA-61, this is FA-61 Actual, Buster for targets, initiate evasive maneuvers whenever possible. Out."

The Fighters, aware of the possible danger of radar-guided missiles, would continue on despite the risks. After confirmation on their flight systems on a Radar lock, they would contact command regarding the missiles. While Iraq had not responded within the 24 hour grace period that Kuwait had given, it was highly unlikely that Kuwaiti military personnel would leave room for peace. It was go big or go home.

"Command this is FA-61 Actual, we are detecting radar locks on my squadron... Will Bugout in a few moments. Over."

"FA-61, This is Command, RTB as soon as possible, we don't want downed birds before the war has even started, guys on the ground already suggested to take care of it themselves, Over."

"Copy that, FA-61."

The three Fighter Squadrons would continue on with their designated flight missions. The 61st would carry on targeting the Al-Hussein missile site, while the 9th and the 25th would continue with their FORCAP on the 61st Fighter squadron, the 9th descending to a lower altitude. Both squadrons, which are flying Combat Air Patrol Missions, would initiate sweeping scans, configuring their radars to search for potential enemy aircraft.

The F/A-18s would be capable of detecting radar signatures at around 300km. Once hostile aircraft is confirmed, they would begin to initiate Air Combat Maneuvers to intercept the possible threat. Weapons systems would be expected to lock in at around 75km. While this was their first active combat mission, it was expected that they would be using their aircraft to their full potential, however considering the urgent nature of the mission, some of the aircraft would be prone to human error.

Upon approaching the targeted missile sites, the Aircraft would descend to optimal bombing run altitude. Around 5km away, they would deploy flares and chaff for every second for 20 seconds to cover for any possible heat-seeking SAM, and proceed to deploy their missiles on the Iraqi missile sites, after which they would break away and return to base. 6 Aircraft would release each of their 4 missiles on the main Al-Hussein missile launchers with the remaining two aircraft picking off potential ground targets of high value, such as vehicles and armor.

If the 61st squadron had finished its bombing run before enemy fighters could intercept, the 9th and the 25th would return to base along with the 65th.

[Note: All squadrons consist of 8 F/A-18 Hornets.]

Abdali, Kuwait
Command is unaware of the current situation on the air but has given clearance to the stationed Artillery battalion to open fire on designated targets as Iraqi forces are beginning to cross the border. The Artillery Battalion would fire for effect on their designated targets, hopefully stunning the Iraqi forces. The BM-30s would fire their payload, while the SPAGs would fire enough rounds for a heavy barrage. The guns would fire for around 20 minutes.

[The Artillery battalion would be behind the defensive line created by the 16th tank battalion]

Forces stationed in Abdali would hold their fire until the enemy would essentially cross the border, breaking the fragile peace. Tanks would be utilized to pick off enemy vehicles staying in the open, while the infantry would deal with enemy footmen. The IFV's would be utilized to create 'dead-zones' for enemy infantry, effectively denying streets of any advancement before enemy armor or the subsequent artillery barrage would neutralize them.

The 8th Mechanized Battalion would be ordered to pull back from the main force and reinforce the 16th Tank battalion's defensive line prior to engagement. They would hopefully be pulled back ahead of time before the conflict. After reaching the defensive line, they would dig trenches and position some of their APCs in ditches to effectively work as mobile bunkers. ATGM systems would be set up along the defensive line to combat against enemy vehicles. Infantry stationed at the defensive line would be ordered to dig tunnels, as enemy artillery battering their positions would be possible.

Fighting inside Abdali would be a living nightmare, as roads are tight and the only cover available are the numerous single-story houses scattered inside the town. As prepared, Iraqi forces would have to brave mine-laden roads, while Kuwaiti Military Engineers would detonate charges when Iraqi forces are too much to handle. Charges along the Northern Perimeter would blow up once initial forces were unable to hold for too long, then they would fall back deeper into the town. Kuwaiti forces would focus on destroying high-value targets such as SPAAGs and enemy armor. Anti-tank squads would utilize the city to work their way to flank Iraqi armor, retreating into the buildings once enemy infantry had them cornered.

Artillery pieces that were available, primarily the artillery of the 16th tank battalion, would be ordered to try and counter enemy barrages with their own, with forward observers within Abdali calling targets. They would attempt to lock in Iraqi units in place for Kuwaiti ground forces to slowly pick off. Kuwaiti forces would effectively call in precision strikes at heavy targets whenever they can.

Artillery fire, both friendly and foe, would pummel the area once the Iraqis would order barrages. Still, Kuwaiti forces would stand their ground to inflict as many casualties as possible. Once heavy casualties would be inflicted upon them, remaining elements of both battalions would proceed to slowly retreat to the 16th tank battalion. Even if this order was given, there would still be few platoons of infantry or a couple of vehicles unable to pull back safely. They would then fight their way out of the town.

If Abdali had fallen to Iraqi forces, the 8th Artillery Battalion would be ordered to ready to level the general area. Barrages would be light in nature, as the main objective was to deter Iraqi forces from creating Forward Operating Bases, Logistical outposts, or from advancing.

The 20th Attack Squadron would be mobilized and proceed to make their way to the defensive line that the 16th Tank Battalion would have set up, both providing cover for retreating Kuwaiti forces, and to pick off high-value targets such as SPAA's and Tanks. They would attempt to avoid enemy AA and engage at long range. If enemy AA is too much for cover, they would be forced to retreat.

The 32nd Helicopter Squadron, which was overseeing Abdali prior to the engagement, would be ordered to immediately head back to Kuwait city once Iraqi forces would start to cross the border. They would meet up with the other transport helicopter squadrons and elements of the 26th Mechanized Brigade which would then board these helicopters and proceed to bring them over the Sabah Al-Ahmad Natural Reserve to set up forward defenses.

Roughly 5km East of Abdali, Kuwait

Iraqi forces traveling down the main highway would have hit any Kuwaiti mines laid down on the 801st highway. While the majority of the mines were laid going towards Kuwait, a few mines, roughly a kilometer from the intersection, would be present going towards Um Qasr. the 6th Mechanized Brigade, which was entrenched near the intersection, would open fire upon any Iraqi forces once the 1st Mine would go off. As Iraq has not sent any forward reconnaissance units, the Brigade would effectively be camouflaged with the sand, only making itself known once Iraqi forces would be either fired upon or were getting too close.

Artillery belonging to the Brigade would open fire, along with the rest of the Brigade, upon the Iraqi forces moving south, doing light barrages along the road to cover as much land as possible. The 17th Attack Squadron would be mobilized and ordered to cover the Brigade in defending the Eastern Flank.

Kuwait City, Kuwait

Thunderbolt Sirens would be engaged as information had come in that Iraqi missiles have possibly been launched. Citizens would be ordered to seek shelter and wear gas masks when any are available. This was jarring for most, but citizens were already expecting the threat ever since the military buildup. The Kuwait Fire Service Directorate along with medical units would be mobilized to combat fires and to tend to the injured. While the soldiers were away at the frontlines, firemen and medical personnel were the heroes that the general populace would hold in high regard for the days to come.

The Emir and the General staff would be evacuated from the country, fleeing to Saudi Arabia for safety. There they would coordinate with government officials who were willing to stay within the country, establishing a secure line of communication. Orders would be given to start a massive propaganda campaign to its citizens, recalling the Gulf War of 1991, wherein Kuwait should not let itself be subjugated once again. Governments would also be informed of the situation, primarily, the governments of Great Britain (@Jamie), The United States (@John), and Japan (@Suvorov).

Effectively, Iraq has declared war on Kuwait once they had crossed the border, regardless if Kuwait had declared preemptive war first. In response to this, Kuwait would yet again call out to the nations of the world to request for help as Iraq has violated its sovereignty. While being a small country to defend, Kuwait reassures that it would be willing to collaborate with any Allied force coming to help to eliminate the Iraqi threat.

"Yes, with your permission I'd like to have it sent to the ambassador. Upon verification of the letter and informing our Ministry of Foreign Affairs back home, we'll begin moving to the airport." The Chief signaled for one of the other officers to retrieve the letter. The officer moved forward in a non-threatening manner, his weapons safely holstered. If allowed he'd retrieve the letter and return it to the Chief who quickly read the content prior to sending it up to the ambassador.

Once the letter had been verified the ambassador would notify The Hague of the situation. With all important documents and hard-drives destroyed, the whole staff of the mission would regroup on the ground floor. The Chief would be informed of the situation by the ambassador on the radio, the Chief then turned back towards the Iraqi forces, "with your permission we'll make our way to the airport."

RAF Akrotiri appeared to be becoming a rather active airbase, or at least that is what was predicted as it was the closest to the frontline in regards to the war that was brewing in Iraq, expecting a delivery from the Royal Air Force but an arrival from the Spanish Air Force too. Departing from the UK was a C-17 from 10 Squadron, A Flight which held a call-sign of GAUNTLET001, its formal designation ZK1042. It was transporting troops from Brize Norton to the Cyprus base in preparation for their operations to save the diplomatic staff abroad. Marking the start of Operation Achilles. Meanwhile, the Cyprus base had air traffic controllers to authorize the arrival of a Spanish C-17, ensuring it was giving a holding point in the base and allowed the air crew and soldiers to be accommodated and looked after. The US fleet would be made aware when both the Spanish and British Special Operators were at Cyprus, ready to put an action plan together. @John @Zak

Iraqi-Israeli Border

The Japanese embassy was evacuated to Israel and began to make their way towards the Japanese embassy in Israel. Apparently, the Iraqis never looked nor tried to stop the Japanese personnel. Regardless, they took as many precautions as possible - using their local staff to drive them and talk for them while the Japanese members of the embassy hid in the back of vehicles. At one time, the team built a box with a false bottom in the back of a truck so that an inspection would not catch the Japanese underneath. Such precautions weren't totally necessary at the time, but they were taken anyway.

This is in response to the Danish-Spanish meeting

It's been several days since the Danish Forces begun working, testing and investigating the chemical attack in Madrid, Spain. The Danish forces were working day and night, testing difference chemicals as well as researching. Finally a few days later the Danish had a breakthrough, it was indeed Mustard Gas used in the chemical attacks within Madrid, this information would be passed onto the the Spanish Authorities as well as the Danish Ministry of Defence to pass on any information needed to the Coalition call.

With the gas now confirmed, the task of the Danish Forces would be changed from investigating and testing to decontamination, the forces would help begin decontaminating the affected areas which included the houses, shops and any public areas that were affected. It would be a long road until Madrid would be back to Normal but the Danish Forces remained committed and would begin notifying and help any medical staff in Madrid that needed help. The Danish Ministry of Defence would update their records on what was happening, and would begin planning the forces needed for the joint NORSCOM unit that was going to be involved.

@Zak @HeadlessSeeker

With the area decomtainated the Danish forces would back up and return to Denmark. The Spanish authorities were notified of the immediate departure of the Danish forces

Belgian/US Embassy

The Republican Guard Commander returned the salute before taking the Pistol. His men entered with weapons lowered and guarded the surrendered weapons. They escorted civilians out of the embassy while keeping the staff on hand. Before anything, Saddam was going to want to show case them on live television.

Civilians would be escorted to the airport while they rounded up staff so they could be brought to the Republican Palace where live television equipment was being set up. They brought up trucks to transport everyone in the back up to both the Republican Palace and airport. All while this was going on the Republican Guard began to search the embassy from top to bottom for anyone hiding or anything that got missed.

@Flying Damascas @John

Netherlands Embassy

The Republican Guard Officer seemed to think about it for a moment."You have my permission. However, you will be escorted to the airport under our supervision. We have trucks available to bring you straight there if necessary." he said with a pause."So, are you ready or do you need more time to get ready?" he asked seemingly impatient.

@Dutchy

British Embassy

The British Embassy staff would be brought to the Republican Palace under armed guard. Brought into the entry way where live television cameras were being set up. They were not set up entirely yet, but they were clearly being watched by the Republican Guard. They were told to stay put as they were expecting more arrivals soons.

---

The Kuwaiti aircraft coming in on their attack run on the ballistic missile launch site would be greeted by a variety of hostile feedback. Alarms would blare as they were locked onto by manpads, and they would see tracers arch up into the sky and explode in black puffs of smoke as on the ground AA opened up. Fire trailing behind them as the SCUD sites personnel began to scatter as they broke under the pressure.

Igla manpads fired off, but veered off course as they locked onto flares. Tough as the aircraft got closer and closer the AA got closer and closer. For the most part the missiles launched by the Kuwait airstrike landed true, taking out eight of the ten missiles before they could launch and killing fleeing missile launcher operators. About four ZU-23-2 were taken out left a smoldering burnt wreck of twisted metal.

The Kuwaiti aircraft would of just finished bombing the SCUD site in time for the MiG-29s to come within range. They began to get weapons lock and moved in on an attack vector. Swooping down on them they engaged after burner and went in while the MiG-23s held back. Each locked a single R-27 onto each of the F/A-18 at a range of 40km. Effective kill range head on being 42 km, and they wanted to give themselves some room to work with. But, if the F/A-18s moved to meet them, they would be forced to launch at 60-70km.

---

The Iraqis would take considerably large causalities when moving into Abdali. Constantly pinned down and halted by artillery, and physically and literally unable to dislodge the entrenched M1A1 Abramss that the Kuwaiti armed forced have. None of the T-72s present had any ammunition that could at this time pierce the Abrams. Full frontal attacks were suicidal and the Kuwait armed forces could pick off Iraqi armor called in to deal with the encountered Kuwait tanks. The Iraqi armed forces were using a sledgehammer approach. Throwing as much as they could at an obstacle, and paying dearly for every street taken. Burnt out Iraqi tanks at choke points behind advancing Iraqi troops showing how hard fought this all was.

The Iraqis tried moving up their AA pieces wheeling them through streets while SPAA followed behind tanks to try and protect them from Kuwait air superiority. Iraqi artillery was temporarily suppressed as they were forced to temporarily stop and move as to avoid further fire from Kuwait return fire. However upon being back up, they held fire before unleashing a large creeping barrage ahead of the Iraqi forces to try and clear out enemy resistance.

The fact that their ammo was not able to harm Kuwait armor meant they needed to bring in their precious reserves of heat rounds and RPG-29s. This would however take time, and the heat rounds were unreliable and there was no garentee 500mm of penetration would do anything.

---

The 6th Division upon encountering the 6th Mechanized Brigade in its stretched out state was halted. Their plan to encircle Kuwait forces was halted the moment they hit the first mine. So, after taking some losses they began to pull back. Having to do a fighting retreat the entire way as they tried to get out of the 6th Mechanzied Brigades field of fire. All the while they tried to figure out the coordinates of where they had been fired upon from with mixed results. They would not be able to move forward until the 6th Mechanized Brigade was dealt with and be unable to encircle Kuwaiti forces or hit Kuwait City.

@Strix

The Office of President Hussein would send a secure statement to the Japanese stating that the President would be available for a reply after a scheduled on air appearance and would be willing to engage in a phone conversation.

A local hotel receptionist had tipped off the Civil Guard that she may have seen a sighting of Luwai el-Nasrallah entering the hotel shortly after the bombing occurred and this theory was correct as she had requested security to look at the cameras. The Civil Guard had deployed a unit of fifteen officers from their barracks just a few miles away and they pulled up at the rear of the hotel to not alert the suspect who's room was at the front of the building.

Officers entered the rear of the building and made their way up to the fourth floor where they had to use the element of surprise to not alert the suspect. Officers were wearing full uniform including their body armour and helmets which ensured their safety - they carried a loaded MP5 each with three extra magazines each and had an earpiece in and certain officers had body cameras on to record the incident to pass further up the chain of command.

The door was breached by the means of an enforcer and a flashbang was thrown into the room which detonated infront of the suspect and the officers piled into the room, all weapons trained on the suspect as they ordered him down to the floor.

The other Iraqi suspect had however not been found as of yet.

The Spanish Air Force jet touched down at RAF Akritori in Cyprus and safely taxiied towards a parking area and switched its engines off as the unit made its way off the plane to recuperate and get some food, drink and rest before their operations commenced.

As the ship had begun to pass Cyprus, the 'Green Shirts' on the Eisenhower had been sweeping across the flight deck to make sure there was no debris on there that would be a danger to them or the aircraft before take off. Whilst the 'White Shirts' conducted a walk around of a single C-2 Greyhound from the Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40, 4th Detachment, checking the tires for no punctures or loss of pressure and checking there are no damages to the aircraft or fuel leaks. The two pilots would be in the cockpit (Commander Carver Wray and Lieutenant Commander Fraser Clifford), going through their preflight checklist. Commander Wray was holding the clipboard, whilst Lieutenant Commander Clifford was checking what was being read out and responding to what needed to be done;

"Auxiliary Fuel Pump - off?"

"Auxiliary Fuel Pump is off"

"Flight Controls?"

"Free and correct"

"Instruments and radios?"

"Checked and set"

"Altimeter?"

"Altimeter is set"

"Directional gyro?"

"Set"

"Fuel Gauges?"

"Checking now.." He'd pause for a little as he tested the fuel gauges, making sure they were working. "Checked"

This would go on and on until all the checks were completed until they were ready to go. Twelve of the Gold Squadron, eight of the G Squadron, Delta and all six of the Combat Support Squadron would appear on deck. The rear ramp would be lowered allowing them to enter the aircraft. Each one would be wearing their Desert Camouflage Uniform with Interceptor Body Armour and PASGT helmets. Each one was also carrying a M4A1 with SOPMOD attachments to the weapons. Amongst the groups, they had enough medical supplies to treat six serious injuries and 10 minor at the same time. They were also carrying enough explosives to level a small village. A 'Yellow Shirt' would be stood out of the front of the aircraft as all of the checks are complete, using a variety of hand movements, he guides the C-2 out of its bay, helping it taxi towards the catapult. As it sits on the catapult, the wings would be extended along with the launch bar, which is attached to the front of the aircraft's nose landing gear, into the catapult shuttle. An additional bar, the holdback, is connected from the rear of the nose landing gear to the carrier deck. The holdback fitting keeps the aircraft from moving forward prior to catapult firing.

In a series of rapid events, the catapult is pulled into tension by hydraulic pressure, removing all slack from it. A 'Green Shirt' gives a signal to the pilots, who push the throttle forward and the engines begin to speed up. Commander Wray gives the fuel and engine gauges one final quick check. Once this is done, he salutes the Catapult officer, to indicate the aircraft is ready. From a short distance, quick final examinations are given to the aircraft to double check for no leaks or damage, once they are satisfied, they give two thumbs up to the catapult officer - who makes the final checks to the catapult settings. A 'Yellow Shirt' by the side of the aircraft gets down on one knee, leaning towards the bow of the ship. He points two fingers towards it. This both alerted the pilots and the rest of the ship's crew that the aircraft is launching. The Catapult Officer presses the launch button, which breaks off the holding bar and sends the aircraft fleeing forward. A sound of steam hisses out from the catapult as it moves forward.

Once the aircraft is in the air, it provides a clearing turn to the right side of the ship. After this is done, the aircraft heads straight ahead, paralleling the ship's course for seven nautical miles at an altitude of 500 feet. After it hits the distance marker, it begins to climb freely, turning towards RAF Akrotiri. (@Jamie)

The CSG would continue on it's course, it's destination being the Coast of Syria.

The Civilians from the embassy would comply to go to the airport, whilst the marines would - although through some moaning and grumbling - comply to get into the back of the Iraqi vehicles to be taken to the Republican Palace. The Republican Guard wouldn't find much in the embassy from the US side, apart from stripped down and wiped hard drives and shredded documents. @HeadlessSeeker

The Saudi Ulema has declared a Fatwa against Saddam Hussein. Whilst the Kingdom itself has not officially declared war, their viewpoint is the same. The Ministry of Media would instruct radio stations near the Iraq border to broadcast Anti-Saddam material. The broadcasts would urge the Muslims of Iraq to take up arms against Saddam Hussein. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would make it clear that they will support any groups in Iraq that will take up arms against the regime.

A separate private and classified message was sent to the United States suggesting that the Kingdom is open to be used as a staging ground for operations against Iraq
@John

During the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan that ended in 1989, a similar fatwa and declaration of Holy War was declared against the Soviet Union. The Kingdom had supported the Mujahideen in Afghanistan that consisted of Muslims from all over the world, including Iraq. The government would explore previous records and privately reach out to any Iraqis they had supported in Afghanistan who may now have returned to Iraq. If contact was initiated, the Kingdom would pledge financial support and arms.
@HeadlessSeeker

Back in the Kingdom, the Kuwati Emir and co were allowed to enter Saudi Arabia. From the border they would be taken directly to the Royal Palace in Riyadh. A photo op would be released for the public where the Kuwaiti Emir embraced the Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad Al-Qahtani.

The Kuwatis would be provided a place to stay, as well as a temporary office to communicate with their government in Kuwait. The King would personally summon the Kuwaiti Emir to discuss how the Kingdom can assist Kuwait.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Johnson II was probably the only soul in Liberia following the conflict. Liberia was going through so much these days, no one could care less. Later that day the Foreign Minister would privately meet the President at the executive mansion. The Foreign Minister was a timid and reserved type, perfectly cherry picked to be Liberias voice on the international stage. Imagine the shitshow if one of the warlords was chosen as the Foreign Minister.

He entered Presidents Taylors office to be met by the President sitting in shorts with his feet on the table whilst smoking a cigar and listening to music. He would quietly take a seat infront of the President.

The President would be staring outside the window with the views of the beautiful streets of Monrovia.

(PJ= Prince Johnson CT= Charles Taylor)

PJ:" Ahem...uhh so we've reshuffled the foreign department, I employed more staff members. We're going to start working on establishing a foreign poli-"

The Foreign Minister was cut off by the President, who by the way was still seated with his feet on the table facing the nearest window.

CT: "Its great isnt it?"

PJ:" Uhh oh yes.. I'm sorry what is great?"

CT " POWER. Power my friend. This time last year I was in the outskirts of Monrovia, preparing my siege. Now I am the most powerful man in the country. It's a great feeling."

PJ:" Ohh.. yes of course Mr. President I ag-"

CT:" Did you know they call us Little America? What a peculiar nickname. We're hardly the America of this continent.......yet." He would chuckle. "I am overwhelmed with joy PJ. Is it okay if I call you that? Anyway, yes let me tell you there is nothing better than being in power. The plans I have for this nation.......... Oh boy."

PJ:"Oh. Yes. Of course Mr. President... Mr. President allow me to continue."

The President would sigh. CT: " Get on with it then. "

The Foreign Minister would continue informing the President about the changes he has made and the plan going forward. The President would barely care, still seated facing the window whilst smoking. However, one comment would immediately captivate his attention.

PJ: "...........There is a conflict going on in Iraq, it seems that western forces are trying to overthrow Saddam Hussein. We havent really focused much on it, as we have no busi-"

CT:"SADDAM? Tell me more. What have these scum done to my dearest Saddam?"

PJ:"Excuse me?"

CT:"More PJ! Tell me more!"

PJ:"Well Iraq invaded Kuwait and it seems there is a Military intervention going on from several nations to invade Iraq. It will be interesting to see what happens but this in no way affects us. I dont feel the need to make a comment."

CT:" Oh yes you will PJ!" The President would quickly reach for his drawer and reach out for a photo album. He would move through the pages of the album. On it the Foreign Ministers could see various pictures. The first few were in Liberia and contained pictures of the civil war. Some... very explicit. However the latter were pictures of world leaders. Not with the President but just portraits. He saw Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan, , Idi Amin of Uganda, Gadaffi of Libya and finally the page landed on Saddam Hussein of Iraq. "These are all powerful men PJ. The world needs powerful men like these. I look up to these men."

The Foreign Minister and the President would go back and forth about making a comment on Iraq. Eventually the FM was persuaded.

We have been following the situation in your country. President Charles Taylor would like to wish you the best of luck. He would like to offer 10,000 men of the Liberian Army to assist you if needed. These men are seasoned warriors and have been fighting since the age of 12. The President is sure they will be worthy for your cause.

Thank you

"Command, this is FA-61 Actual, area is leveled, returning to base, over."

"FA-61, this is FA-9, you got bogeys at your 6, moving in to intercept, out."

The squadron would immediately head for Kuwaiti airspace as planned, although the unforeseen Iraqi aircraft which would eventually disrupt the entire operation. The Squadron would immediately climb up, to gain altitude for evasive maneuvers and immediately pop chaff to throw off any incoming radar-guided missiles. The 9th squadron, which has been covering the strike force, would move in to engage. They would approach the enemy aircraft until their radar could actively detect the Iraqi aircraft. They would then arm their weapon systems locking on to each incoming Plane, firing their AIM-120 AMRAAMs at each target at a range of around 75km.

2 planes would effectively be hit by the Soviet missiles out of pure luck, crashing down on the desert sands below. Effectively, the fight for air superiority had begun.

The 25th Squadron would stay back in reserve, offering support when needed.

Abdali, Kuwait

The Kuwaiti forces' morale would immediately buckle under the intense artillery fire. Multiple casualties within the town were sustained, while the talks for a route have begun. Essentially, they would stay for three more days until the Iraqis have effectively destroyed morale, which would prompt a strategic retreat. Kuwaiti Armour, while impervious to conditional Iraqi weaponry, would be challenged on the Artillery Barrage, with its crew shaken by the shells. Still, among the dust and the ruble Kuwaiti forces would persist and were adamant about defending their homeland.

Kuwait City, Kuwait

25 people were confirmed dead, with multiple wounded. Emergency services were quick to respond, dealing with the aftermath of the strike. While the numerous dead had shaken the Kuwaiti people's resolve, it only served to put more fuel into the fire of what seems to be defiance against Iraqi oppression. The event would be broadcasted worldwide, essentially trying to spark international outrage on the use of missiles on civilian targets. This would hopefully spark outrage on the blatant murder of innocent Kuwaiti lives.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The emir with his accomplices, would accept the invitation, and proceed to the meeting as planned.

Al-Yamama Palace, Riyadh

e6497c61-1895-48ef-8224-78f36207cfb1-2-Karl-Josef-Hildenbrand-DP.jpg

The Emir and his accomplices would be directed to the great hall of the Yamama Palace. There at the end of the hall, Saudi King Muhammad bin Abdulaziz al Saud would be seated. On his right, the Kings advisers would be seated. On the left, there would be an empty chair on the elevated platform, where the King was seated, for the Emir and right below there would be a row of seats for his accomplices on the same level as the Saudi King's advisers.

The King would embrace the Emir and ask him of how his stay thus far has been. Servants of the Palace would proceed to enter and offer some cardamom tea. After everyone greeted each other the King would get straight to business. The doors would be shut and the private meeting would begin.

"Emir, We are greatly concerned about the situation in Kuwait. Kuwait is a great friend of Saudi Arabia and we would like to extend our full support. How is the situation on the ground? Is there any way we can assist you? The Kingdom has gone through a lot of changes and thus we dont have a standing Military for the time being. Over 100,000 troops are going through training at the moment. We do however have some equipment coming in the coming days. Depending on if they come through, we can potentially provide you with 5 American-made Attack Helicopters and a 5 American-made Air Superiority combat planes. I dont have the exact names and specifications at the moment, but these are modern and state of the art. Similarly we have the capability to provide you with Chinese made intermediate Ballistic Missiles. In the coming 2 weeks we also have around 500 units of Armored personnel carriers and Infantry Fighting vehicles. We are willing to let you use these. (OOC: Completion May 19th for vehicles)

If you take me up on this offer it would have to be Kuwaiti Armed Forces personnel using them. An effective and significant Saudi manpower would not be available for a few months. However at this time we could send 2 Brigades of the Royal Guard to assist your men.

Are you open to arming the Kuwaiti citizens? As you may know, the Ulema declared a Fatwa against Saddam Hussein. We have heavily been broadcasting Anti-Saddam propaganda near the Iraq border. The clerics have declared it a Jihad. We have been trying to contact any known Iraqi individuals to the Kingdom that fought against the Soviets in Afghanistan, whom we bankrolled. If they are willing, we will send them weapons and cash to fight Saddam."

"We appreciate the escort, though we'll use the vehicles attached to the embassy to transport us to the airport." The Security Chief turned to one of his officers and told him to collect everyone and prepare them for transport. He then called up to the ambassador on the radio and updated him on the situation, who would then in turn update The Hague on their upcoming movements.

Once everyone was waiting in the lobby and a last check had been completed to ensure all important documents had been destroyed they would begin making their way out the front door. The Chief looked towards the Iraqi and asked, "with your permission we will make our way to the minivans, which are parked on the road here."

If allowed, the chief would begin guiding the group towards the vehicles and past the Iraqi security force, he'd ensure that everyone was accounted for before he'd take his position in the passenger seat of the lead vehicle. He'd wait for a signal from the Iraqi escort to begin their drive to the airport.

MISSION BRIEFING

The goal of this mission is to land safely in Kuwait and secure the country against Iraqi invasion while reinforcements are eventually brought to bear in Kuwait. The JS Yama and the JS Sake Maru would stop first in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, those ships would be fitted with Saudi Arabian travel paperwork and would be sent far ahead of the fleet. Both of those vessels are civilian in design and original purpose. They would bear no mark of Japanese military. Their mission was ostensibly to trade Japanese vehicles and machinery with Saudi Arabia. Their true mission was to land in Saudi Arabia and allow the planes to take off and land in Kuwait. The main force would attempt to land in the port of Kuwait. Prior to the main landing, the Assault Force would land. Additionally, medical personnel who started their training in Japan would continue their training onboard the ships.

LOGISTICS
The military would transport out from Port Chirba, Japan, to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait City, Kuwait. The five replenishment ships were fully loaded with all logistical, mechanical, fuel, and other support supplies necessary for the troops, vehicles, and ships being transported to operate at full functionality. Supply levels would be constantly monitored and weighed against the amount necessary to make an emergency trip home versus successfully landing at the destinations. If at any point during the monitoring of supply levels versus remaining distance, if it was determined that the fleet could not successfully land at their destinations, the fleet would divide itself to a level capable of reaching its destination and the remainder would return home with the necessary supplies.

Throughout the journey, as supply levels were being monitored, supplies would be consumed as necessary to ensure the functionality of all crew, passengers, ships, and vehicles. Ships and vehicles would be maintained by their crews and monitored regularly. Any mechanical issues would be immediately addressed. If an issue was deemed dangerous enough, the ship would immediate seek safe harbor at the nearest port (Friendly or neutral NPC even). Any logistical, mechanical, etc need would be consumed and/or addressed as needed.

If for any reason, equipment or manpower could not fit in any of the configurations given, the equipment and men placed on each ship would be reduced so that the ships can travel at maximum load.

$1 Billion would be spent to secure a large stockpile of supplies to support this initial mission and the remaining waves.

The arrival of the American Carrier Strike Group was a welcome one, giving personnel in Cyprus the ability to feel more relaxed due to the growing amount of presence in the region, all having similiar missions. The Spanish C-17 and the American C-2 Greyhounds were both giving full authorisation, individually and safely to land at RAF Akrotiri, an airbase that was in general, underused, until recently. It was now growing into a vast collection of military assets from different reaches of the world. Spanish, British and American Special Forces were offered a set barracks specifically for the operators for the hostage mission, giving the opportunity for them to discuss and begin working together. Given the operation was US-led, it would be down to the American Commanders to give the clear on when they were to deploy, and the plan that the three units were going to go by. @John @Zak In support of Operation Achilles, more troops were to be deployed to Cyprus as a form of immediate readiness, these were deployed from Brize Norton to Cyprus with an air to air refuel over the English Channel from RAF Tristars. In addition to the Hercules, four Tornado ADV F3s were to be deployed to provide air defence for the airbase, deploying from their respective UK base. Their journey would go unarmed, with the intent to arm them while stationed in Cyprus, using external fuel tanks to get there.

Following the COBRA Meeting that morning, the British Government have also marked Iraq with a 'Do Not Travel' setting on the Travel Advisory, whilst a message was sent to the Iraqi Government demanding the imminent release of all staff from the British Embassy that they have ceased, for them to return home to their families. @HeadlessSeeker

Meanwhile, the Tension within the Brazilian Embassy continued to increase, the security personnel continued guarding the windows and entrances of the Embassy, armed with their weapons, the leadership gathered around the Radio, where they received a faith recording of the Emperor's speech, courtesy of the Department of International Relations, although his words were encouraging, the sound of the Republican Guard not too far away was frightening. The situation remained the same as when the Embassy first executed its security plan and established direct contact with Brasília.

The C-2 Greyhound would have been in constant communication with the ATC at RAF Akrotiri (Permission from Jamie to rp the ATC). As the aircraft comes onto the final intercept vector, the ATC would come over the radio;

"Greyhound niner-sierra-papa, turn left heading zero-three-zero to intercept the localizer, cleared ILS runway two-eight into Akrotiri, maintain two-thousand-five-hundred feet until established"

"Turn left heading zero-three-zero, cleared ILS runway two-eight into Akrotiri, maintain two-thousand-five-hundred feet until established. Greyhound niner-sierra-papa."

After a few minutes of following along the established bearing, the ATC would once again come over the radio.

"Greyhound niner-sierra-papa, cleared to land runway one-zero"

"Cleared to run landway one-zero, Greyhound niner-sierra-papa"

After the clearence would be given, the C-2 Greyhound would come into land at Akrotiri and would taxi towards its gate. When the engines are powered down, the rear ramp would open - allowing the personnel inside to disembark.

The Strike Group would arrive off the coast of Syria, more specifically eight miles from the city of Baniyas, the Captain of the USS San Jacinto would arrive in the CIC of the ship. Taking a seat next to the TAO, he would place a headset over his ears, so he could communicate with the rest of the sailors on the ship and the rest of the fleet whilst co-ordinating the mission.

He begins speaking, directly to the TAO. "Orders in from Fleet Forces, our targets are the Kirkuk and Rasheed Air Bases."

"Yes sir" The TAO responds, before turning to his monitor and speaking into the mouthpiece attached to his headset. "Weapon control, new targets. Three-Five-Point-Two-Seven-Point-Seven-Four-Seven degree north, Four-Four-Point-Two-One-Point-One-Seven degree east - and Three-Three-Point-One-Six-Point-Four-Two degree north, Four-Four-Point-Two-Nine-Point-Three-Five east." The co-ordinates given were that of Kirkuk Air Base in Northern Iraq and Rasheed Air Base in Baghdad. "Spool Tomahawks one through sixteen" he said. As he was saying this, the man in control of the WCS station would be filling in the information on his monitor needed, such as authentication and the co-ordinates. Once this was done, he'd press a simple button. Enter. The information would instantly go from his station into the TWCS and then onto the MK-41 Vertical Launch Systems to the aft and forward on the ship. An alarm would blare from each one, signalling a launch was occuring and for those near the VLS to move away and get inside.

"Batteries release" The TAO would say through the mouthpiece, and the WCS nodded as he did, speaking in response. "Yes sir. Batteries release on all tracks." The doors on the sixteen VLS cells would swing open. It would be mere moments before the flames appear as the first missile is ejected from the cell and into the air, followed by the second, and the third - and so on. Whilst this was happening, the WCS would be speaking, monitoring each launch. "Birds away. Kill track Two-Five-Seven-One, Two-Five-Seven-Two, Two-Five-Seven-Three" He would continue through the list, until it got to the end. "Two-Five-Seven-One-Six"

The sun was beginning to set in Syria, so it was a spectacle to behold as the sixteen missiles streamed through the air one after the other.

It was as the missiles were going over Syria that they would begin to diverge and head towards their targets. Eight missiles would be dedicated to each airbase. It was guaranteed they were hit, Iraq didn't have much in terms of missile defence. The WCS would have been watching the screen for about thirty minutes, tracking the missiles as they were in flight. Then suddenly, their trackers dissapeard off the screen and he waited for what seemed like an eternity, when in reality it was on about a minute. He got the confirmation, the missiles had hit their targets and had detonated.

In the air bases would be pure carnage right now, the missiles had plunged into the ground before detonated, leaving giant crators in the ground. Four MiG-23s were completely detroyed in the attacks, plus a further eight MiG-21s seriously damaged. That wouldn't be the only damage however, small transport vehicles and refuelling trucks would have also been destroyed. At Kirkuk airbase, one of the Tomahawks had left a giant crator in the middle of the runway, rendering the airbase ineffective until it was repaired.

The crews of the fleet would be put on high alert now, as it was sure a retalitory attack would occur.

On the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, two pilots from Strike Fighter Squadron 37 would climb into their F/A-18C Hornets, red shirts would be fleeing around the aircraft, pushing and driving trolleys. Checks were being made by green shirts whilst the red shirts began loading the aircraft. The two aircraft would be fitted out with the same armament, each would be carrying: Two AIM-9 Sidewinders on their wingtips, four AIM-120 AMRAAMs on their underwings, two AIM-7 Sparrows on the fuselage and a single Sargent Fletcher FPU-8/A drop tank under the fusealge. Each would also be fitted with the SUU-42A/A Flares/Infrared decoys dispenser pod and chaff pod. Their M61A1 Vulcans would each be loaded up with 500 rounds.

At the same time, a single E-2 Hawkeye from Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 126 would be getting prepared for take off. Prior to taxi and take off, it's Link 16 (JTIDS)/CEC would be connected to all ships and aircraft. Meaning anything that the E-2 picks up, the information would automatically be sent to them.

Each of the aircraft would taxi individually. The E-2 Hawkeye would take position on Catapult One. Whilst the F-18s would take position on Catapults Three and Four. After all of the checks had went through and it was given the all clear - the E-2 would be the first to launch. After launch it would vector left before beginning to climb rapidly, to get over the fleet fast. After it was launched, the two F-18s would be launched one after the other. Vectoring in different directions to avoid a crash, before joining up above the carrier and beginning a patrol around the fleet.
