SFH Tillflykt

SECURE
Burn Baby Burn
Swedish Field Hospital (SFH) Tillflykt would rapidly fill to near-capacity as the huge amount of casualties rush through the doors into the various adapted trauma wards and surgical theatres, each fully outfit with appropriate levels of equipment in order to ensure the best possible care of those injured. Whilst this was a almost certainly a crisis, the silver-lining was the fact it was not a warzone, allowing the Swedish (with the permission of the Spanish) to export those with critical injuries to major trauma centres throughout the local Spanish cities where they'd be able to receive the specialist treatment required to ensure their lives were spared - consideration was given to the limited supplies and access to essential life saving technology required for the vast array of injuries in a field hospital. Ambulances brought from Sweden would continue to rattle through the fire-torn area to recover the deceased and wounded and escort them back to the hospital with the assistance of Spanish crews. Radio contact was maintained throughout and fire retardant uniforms were worn to prevent injury to the medical teams.

Nonetheless, the Swedish Army would continue to triage and treat the walking wounded and provide area for them to seek refuge with ample amounts of refreshment and food (although in the form of vacuum packed, high nutritional, military meals.

As a sign of respect to the Spanish, those confirmed deceased would be covered with a clean, white sheet and moved towards a separate isolated unit where a team would begin the identification, recording and storage process. This ensured adequate records were kept throughout and maintained a level of respect to the families that've potentially now lost a loved one. Emergency service and military personnel lost in the process would be draped in their respective national flag, if identification of such was possible.

By now the fire in the south part and middle was largely under control, leaving being a charred black wasteland that was once a vibrant industrial complex. The combined efforts of all nations involved was paramount to the control of the fire, from the Swedish teams efficiency in the medical field, to the brave Portuguese and British firefighters controlling and eliminating the fire in their designated areas, the worse had passed. All efforts were now concentrated in the blast zone, where the fire was still spreading, albeit slowly, thanks to the Spanish Firefighters being diverted there, more and more firetrucks and pumps would be brought to the scene, and with the help of the British Helicopters dropping water in key zone, the fire was starting to slowly but surely die off. It would only take a few more hours to completely extinguish the flames, that would have marked Spanish history, and the history of its new government.

The fight was not over, as there were still civilians to be rescued from pockets of flames throughout the complex, and from collapsed buildings. The Spanish Emergency Authorities would now ask the British and Portuguese Fire teams to converge around the north part to fully suffocate the fire caused by the explosion, with all firefighters working in conjunction it would be a matter of time to defeat this hellish inferno.

Meanwhile more and more injured would be brought to the Swedish and Spanish Medical teams, however the Spanish Government would make sure that no medical supplies depleted, giving the Swedish and Spanish medics all the supplies they needed to excel at their efforts. However slowly they see less and less deaths which meant their efforts were not in vain.

Personnel from the Gibraltar Fire Service and the Royal Air Force remained hard at work, abiding by requests from the Spanish Authorities with ultimately ended up with the Chinook conducting drops via the water basket, working with the Spanish Fire Chiefs to deploy on more strategic areas as advised by the overall incident commanders. Throughout the operation, British Firefighters had shifts between the two pumps to allow each team to get some rest but the days were long and hard, the rest was no doubt demoralizing for the crews and the Chinook was only limited to one air crew so sorties were limited to ensure all personnel got sufficient rest. During the time of the fire gradually getting under control, a lot of focus turned to overhauling the area with the Gibraltar Pumps slowly making their way to the main point of the explosion.

Some time would have passed now, the combined efforts from all nations involved, and their brave firefighters would now, as hours went by, finally controlled the fire and started to extinguish it. The Villages around the complex would have been saved from the fire, as well as surrounding wild life and forests. But the complex itself was a disaster zone. only a few buildings were left standing, it was a charred and hot wasteland, where once stood a mighty industrial city. Around the exploded Chemical plant, a big crater was found. More and more injured would be brought to the field hospital, however deaths would thankfully stop. It was now time for the relief, search and rescue and clean up, which would take days to complete. The victims of the fire stood around at 1623 deaths and 1231 injured, deathliest industrial fire in world history. With damages reaching the millions of dollars. 3 days of national mourning would be decreed for the victims of the fire, including all firefighters lost in fighting it.
The Government would publicly thank all nations that participated and aided Spain in this dire hour, it would serve to show, that Europe was still united in cooperation and friendship. It was time to rebuild from the ashes of the old, the Government would promise to rebuild the industrial complex and bring jobs to those who lost everything. New laws on emergency security, working conditions and safety conditions would be made to ensure nothing like this event could ever happen again in the Kingdom of Spain. A investigation would also be made to find the cause of the fire. It was found that it was a simple short circuit that caused the flames, one which dictated who died and who lived in this catastrophic day.
Spain was injured, but wound heals, and so will the Spanish People heal, and a new prosperous Kingdom shall rise again, from this wake up call, on how a neglecting government can doom the lives of its people.
